The Valentino X Moncler Collab Features The Most Stylish Down Jackets

Just when we thought the puffer down jacket look had spiralled into obscurity, it appears its back again, looking…even bigger and surprisingly, better. Perhaps its bolstered by the rise of the athleisure trend worn by the likes of the Kardashians, Jenners or Hadids, but the puffer jacket trend is back again. After all, it’s practical and convenient especially post-workout, and does its job of keeping the cold out.

For Moncler, it’s beyond just a trend — they’ve been known for their quality down jackets since forever. So this collaboration comes as no surprise, though gotta say, we’re pretty pleased.

Dropping end-August is the Pierpaolo Piccioli collection, a brainchild of Valentino’s creative director and Moncler. The collection will feature six slick down jackets for Fall/ Winter 2018-2019.

Created for Women’s Valentino Fall 18 Pre Collection and Men’s Valentino FW 18/19,  the winter items follow the themes of VLTN and the tiger. The VLTN logo, as you may have noticed, has gained immense popularity across Valentino’s accessories and apparel since its emergence last year. Though inspired by an archival font, it’s made completely contemporary, probably to appeal to the rise of the street and athleisure trends in fashion. As for the tiger print, it falls right in line with Valentino’s Fall/Winter 19 outlook, which explores key animal iconography from the 60s and 70s archives.

Piccioli’s reinterpretation of the Moncler jacket is a part of Moncler Genius. If you missed it, Moncler announced  the project in February, which involves eight guest designers placing their own spin on the Moncler jacket. Other than working with Piccioli, Moncler also has collaborations with names like Grenoble, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Noir Kei Ninomiya, Fragment Hiroshi Fujiwara and Palm Angels.
