3 Simple Back-To-School Makeup Looks

Summer break is finally over and the thought of dragging yourself to school can be pretty daunting, especially if it means waking up at ungodly hours in the morning and leaving your bed. With back-to-school season in full swing, here’s how to look glam on a budget with these three simple makeup looks, which you can easily achieve before the bell rings.

Look 1 : Sunny Daze

Sunny Daze Back-To-School Makeup Look

A little bit of yellow didn’t hurt nobody! Known to be one of this year’s biggest eye makeup trends, the yellow eyeshadow look earned its spot on our list for its bright and sophisticated look that’ll have you looking as awake as ever, even on dreary mornings.

Base

For a natural skin look that lasts for hours, we’d recommend the Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation. Get the perfect base with this pick, which gives you full coverage, and a matte finish that comes with an affordable price tag. Apply the foundation with a foundation brush for an airbrushed finish or with a beauty blender for a more natural look.

Eyes

NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette – Brights, $26.50. Available on Sephora.

Using a small eyeshadow brush, buff in some yellow, #16, from the NYX Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette on your lids and line it with a black eyeliner for that perfect cat-eye! Most importantly, this wouldn’t be complete without a coat of mascara. Achieve long, fluttery and voluminous lashes with the Heroine Make mascara for a more desirable, eye-catching look.

Face and Lips

Since more focus is put on the eye area, we’d recommend you to keep your brows and cheeks soft and skip the blush, while going for a lip colour like this L’Oreal Paris reddish coral lipstick, in Flirty Berry, that complements the overall makeup look.

Look 2 : Peachy Pink

Peachy Pink Back-To-School Makeup Look

It’s kind of a Korean-inspired look with a little pizzazz on the eyes that’s simple to recreate without having you run late for class. If you’re aware of the K-Beauty trends that have been circling ‘round in recent years, then I’m pretty sure you’ve heard how dewy finishes are all the rage for K-Beauty fans.

Base

Start off with a base, with innisfree’s Smart Drawing Foundation that offers medium coverage to the skin. Dab a little of the foundation on your lids to be used as primer for your eyeshadow as well.

Eyes

Etude House Fantastic Colour Eyes Palette in #11 Magenta Drawing, $19.90. Available at Etude House.

For the eyes, glide on the lightest shade, #1, from the Etude House Fantastic Colour Eyes Palette to your lids to be used as the base with a small eyeshadow brush. Layer it with the coral pink shade, #3, from the palette on the outer corners and topping it off with a light gold shimmer, #5, in the middle of the lids to blend everything in. This is then followed by lining your eyes with 3CE’s Super Slim Pen Eyeliner in Burgundy Brown, for a softer and more natural effect that Koreans love.

Face

Next up, add some flush to your cheeks with this beautiful rosy number that’s also from innisfree’s Smart Drawing line. We absolutely love how simple and easy-to-use these products are — it goes on so smoothly, it feels like you’re painting on a canvas, like literally. Not to mention, a little goes a long way, so make sure to not squeeze too much product and always remember to blend it out!

To perfect the look, we’d recommend you to try strobing your cheekbones too! And yes, strobing and highlighting are two completely different things — highlighting is usually paired with contouring, whereas strobing, is solely highlighting itself and it comes with a dewy finish (just the way we like it!).

Lips

Ever wondered how Koreans achieve that gradient lip look as well? Add a soft hint of colour to your lips by dabbing on Mamonde’s Creamy Tint Squeeze Lip in the middle of your lips and blend it outwards to perfect your pout.

Base

The complexion is the most important step when it comes to makeup! Smooth on Maybelline’s Superstar Foundation for some high coverage and set it with a pressed powder by one of our cult beauty favourites — the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder, for a matte finish and to keep your makeup looking fresh round the clock!

Eyes

NYX Away We Glow Eyeshadow Palette in Hooked on Glow, $36. Available at Sephora(from top left) — Matte Creamy, Light Nude, Metallic Peach, Copper Gold, Metallic Olive Champagne, Matte Warm Medium Rust, Metallic White Champagne, Shimmer Honey Nude, Metallic Red Bronze, Satin Rosey Nude, and Matte Deep Brown.

Using the NYX Away We Glow Eyeshadow Palette, swipe the lightest shade, Metallic White Champagne, all over your lids to create a nice base, making sure you don’t miss out on the inner corners to brighten your eyes.

After doing so, using a small, pointed eyeshadow brush, pack on Metallic Red Bronze, on the outer corners of your lids and blend it with Copper Gold in the middle, so as to get rid of any harsh lines. To intensify the smokiness of the eyes, line the upper and lower half of your water line with 3INA’s Automatic Eye Pencil in 301 Black.

Face and Lips

Contour, contour and contour! Get that next level look in no time with Rimmel London’s Insta Duo Stick for chiseled and structured cheekbones. On top of that, to balance out the look, dust on some blush to your cheeks and stay muted with your choice of lip colour so that it doesn’t look like you’re overdoing it.
