Ask any beauty blogger about their favourite cosmetic brands and they will definitely mention Shiseido. The Japanese brand has built a cult following — for all the good reasons, and here’s why it is worth all the hype.
We are all out for weightless and lasting makeup. Shiseido has launched their new makeup collection on 1 Sept, featuring light textures and bold colours. With four reimagined textures – gels, dews, inks and powders – we are spoilt for choice!
Can you describe your relationship with Shiseido?
Shiseido is a really popular brand in Korea as well, and I’ve been using Shiseido products. Recently, I’ve been in discussion with the Shiseido team. It’s our first time collaborating on a video and a show.
What is your favourite Shiseido item so far?
I love the Synchro Skin Glow Cushion Compact. I like it because the colour is really distinct, works well on me and adheres to my skin.
How about the new collection — which product would you recommend to beginners?
I would recommend the VisionAiry Gel Lipstick. It is really easy for first-timers to handle as it covers chapped lips. It is a perfect touch-up and gives off a professional vibe.
Another favourite of mine is the Eye Shadow Palette Number 5, because the variation of colours is really distinct and has a nice mixture of shades. Basic users will find it easy to handle!
What are some of the most versatile items from this new collection?
I’d say these two items: the WhippedPowder Blush and the Aura Dew. The WhippedPowder Blush has a cream texture, and can be applied on the lips, eyes and cheeks, so it’s a multi-use product. As for the Aura Dew, it is very shimmery, so the glitter gives a pretty sparkle after you apply it. It’s good for letting the cheeks or collarbones stand out from the rest of your body.
What else are you excited about?
For me, the most important thing are the new textures. If a makeup product is pretty, it will stand out — that is why special textures will catch my eye. To be honest, the packaging is very important as well. Just like food, if it looks good, it will definitely catch my eye! That’s why I feel that the most important part of this new series is the texture and packaging.
What’s one challenging product to work with?
The Minimalist WhippedPowder Blush. It may not be difficult, but you may not be used to it; this WhippedPowder blush has a brand new texture. It’s neither powder-ish, nor creamy, it’s somewhat in the middle.
What are you loving about the makeup world now?
It’s hard to get inspiration from everyday looks, so you should pay attention to fashion shows and festivals. Even an ordinary person will dress up and do a creative makeup look for a festival. Observe and get creative ideas from them!
Any favourite food from Singapore?
Chilli Crab, I love it! It’s not spicy to me.
