When it comes to cleansing your face, there are many conflicting opinions on which is the best way. You might swear by the oil cleansing method, the double-cleanse method, or some people even say that a cleansing brush or device is the best.
You’ve probably heard of FOREO, an innovative tech brand from Sweden who has been changing the beauty game with their beauty devices. And one of their bestsellers is their LUNA range, which includes various facial cleansing gadgets like the LUNA 2, the LUNA Mini 2, the LUNA go, and even a line geared towards men!
We’re going to be taking a look at the hero of LUNA range; the LUNA 2. The oblong facial cleansing device is said to be very effective in removing dirt and makeup, resulting in clear skin. Oh, and it also has anti-ageing properties – throw that into the mix, and I say that we’ve got a winner on our hands if this nifty device can accomplish all that.
The LUNA 2 comes in 4 pastel colours – blue, pink, light blue, and purple. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to pick your favourite colour as each design is targeted at different skin concerns.
Depending on your skin type, the LUNA 2 has a different bristle head in order to better cleanse your skin. Normal skin types are suitable for the pink variation, which has a head with slightly thicker bristles towards the tip to get into the crevices of your nose. The blue variation is geared towards combination skin, with slightly thicker bristles towards the tip. The finer bristles on the purple variation is designed to not irritate sensitive skin, while the thick, rectangular bristles on the light blue variation for oily skin really gets into your pores for a thorough deep-cleanse.
A DEEP CLEANSING AND ANTI-AGING DEVICE ALL IN ONE
The LUNA 2 has a silicone brush head instead of your regular bristles to gently deep cleanse your skin, removing impurities and dirt for clearer and brighter skin. Using T-Sonic Pulsations, the silicone touchpoints on the brush head pulsate to cleanse 99.5% of oil and gunk from your pores. Even if you don’t wear makeup, there are a lot of impurities from the pollution in the air that can get into your pores throughout the day.
The medical-grade silicone used in the LUNA 2 also resists bacteria build-up, making it much more hygienic. You can easily bring your LUNA 2 with you when you’re traveling without worrying about it picking up bacteria on the way.
To use the anti-ageing mode, flip the LUNA 2 around once you’re done with your cleansing routine. After applying your night moisturiser or serum, activate the anti-aging mode by pressing the power button three times, and use it on wrinkle-prone spots for a max of 1 minute. These include your laugh lines and wrinkles around your eyes.
The gentle grooves on the reverse side is much gentler on the skin, and the T-Sonic pulsations aid absorption of skincare products into the skin. By massaging fine lines and wrinkles away, the LUNA 2 will make you look younger! Of course this won’t happen within a few days of using the gadget, so you have to use it over a longer period of time to see results.
CAN A DEVICE CLEANSE MY FACE BETTER THAN MY HANDS?
I never really considered using a facial cleansing device before because I was not yet prepared to drop a couple hundred dollars on something that I thought I could easily accomplish with my hands. So when FOREO offered to let me try their LUNA 2, I was excited to see if it lives up to the hype. It’s been nearly two weeks since I started religiously using the LUNA 2, and I have to admit, it really does its job well.
The rounded tip combined with the flat brush surface ensures that I can easily clean every corner of my face, even the crevices of my nose. Every 15 seconds, the LUNA 2 will stop pulsating for a second to alert me to move onto the next section of my face. I was initially worried that deep cleansing my face everyday might lead to over-exfoliation (which I would like not to experience again – the first time wasn’t pretty), but the silicone brushes were gentle enough to not leave any abrasions. You can also increase and decrease the intensity of the T-Sonic Pulsations depending on your preference.
After cleansing my face, I like to use a cotton pad to apply my toner as it helps to remove any leftover dirt and impurities, which can happen when I’m lazy and in a hurry to remove my makeup after a long day. I noticed that I rarely had any makeup residue or impurities after using the LUNA 2 in my cleansing routine. LUNA 2: 1, Michelle’s hands: 0.
As for the anti-ageing part, I can’t really tell yet as I don’t really have many fine lines (wew!). Hopefully, it’ll prevent my wrinkles from appearing earlier, but I have to get back to you on that in 5 years time. I’ll still continue using it to apply my night creams as I do feel that the LUNA 2 definitely does a better job at massaging my skincare products into my skin than my hands.
Another thing that I really liked about the LUNA 2 was that it’s pretty convenient – one full charge can last up to 450 uses, which is a good 7 months. You can even bring it along your longer vacations without worrying about your LUNA 2 powering down. FOREO really covered all the bases to make this one nifty gadget.
WHAT PRODUCTS CAN I USE WITH THE LUNA 2? AND HOW DO I CLEAN IT?
Always, always rinse the LUNA 2 with warm water after using it as you do not want bacteria building up on it. You can also use soap or FOREO’s Silicone Cleaning Spray to ensure optimal cleanliness. You can’t be too careful when it comes to your face!
Most facial cleansers can be used with the LUNA 2, but avoid clay-based, silicone-based, oil-based and grainy cleansers as they may damage the silicone bristles. Likewise, silicone-based skincare products should be avoided for the same reason.
