If you love hand creams, you’ll love Christmas

What is it with women and hand creams? One hand cream is never enough, and these tubes of moisturiser are used up really fast! On a recent press trip, a journalist took out her hand cream and offered it to the rest of the Singapore team, and I could see their faces light up — over a hand cream. And whenever we receive hand creams in office and post them on NYLON’s Instagram, I start getting messages from friends asking if they are any good. Which leads me to believe that hand creams are the universal gift for Christmas.

And Christmas has many, many hand creams to offer. This is the season where beauty brands release limited edition hand cream sets and our hands and wallets just eat them up. Here are our favourites of the lot:

THREE AROMA HAND CREAM KIT, $80 (25g x 4)

I love this set from Japanese beauty brand, Three. The matte packaging in muted colours, with the ingredients listed on the tube is minimalist aesthetics at its best. And if you love the smell of an Aesop store, you’ll love the fragrances from these formulas. You’ll spend the day sniffing at your hands; just don’t be too obvious about it.

CRABTREE & EVELYN JOIN HANDS, $33 (25g x 3)

I can’t talk about hand cream without mentioning Crabtree & Evelyn. While I know these guys for their cookies (my favourite!), the rest of the female population love them for their hand creams. The formulas are super hydrating, super moisturising, super skin quenching… you get the idea. This set is a trio of the brand’s best selling scents: Rose Water & Pink Peppercorn, Gardeners, and La Source.

INNISFREE HOLIDAY LIMITED EDITION PERFUMED HAND CREAM MINIATURE SET, $24 (20ml x 6)

If you want something that’s VERY Christmasy, you can’t beat this packaging. Innisfree has fragranced these creams with what they call, “Jeju-inspired scents”, named: Peach, Raspberry, Pink Coral, Yuja Tea, Autumn Leaves, and our favourite — Guesthouse Laundry (yup!). Would you like to smell some Guesthouse Laundry?

ETUDE HOUSE COLORFUL SCENT PERFUMED HAND CREAM, $39 (20ml x 6)

This is the biggest box from the lot and the most impressive looking. It’s also very pink and girly — your girl friends will love it. The six scents are: Sweet (smells like juicy sweet fruits), Happiness (peach-scented), Fresh (notes of gardenia), Joyful (citrusy), Lovely (floral notes of tulip and fresia), and Delight (described as a citrus-floral mix). Can’t get more straightforward than these.

THEFACESHOP DAILY PERFUMED HAND CREAM SET, $16 (30ml x 3)

For such Christmasy packaging, I wasn’t expecting these pretty tubes. The three creams have self describing names: Rose Water, Green Tea and Cherry Blossom. I know my mom would like this one.
