November Sneaker Roundup: Fresh Designs And Iconic Collaborations

Some month’s shoe drops are trend-heavy, featuring shoes of similar styles. However, this month seems quite the opposite and we have seen a miscellany of aesthetics in the sneaker culture. December is almost here, so it’s the time for the season of giving, and the season to treat yourself!  If you’re looking for a new pair of kicks this holiday — for yourself or as a gift — we’ve rounded up sneaker releases of the month for you to cop!

Adidas Originals x Hender Scheme FW18

HS ZX 500 RM MT in white & nude, $340

When we heard about Hender Scheme’s collaboration with Adidas Originals, we knew to expect clean colours that are synonymous with the brand’s style — and nude continues to be a key colour trend this season!

Founded by Ryo Kashiwazaki in Tokyo, the Japanese label has a reputation for high quality craftsmanship through handmade construction techniques. Hender Scheme pays homage to the Adidas’ ZX 500 RM, the first of its ZX line that were on shelves since the 1980s! They did this by recreating their own versions with high quality leather that are personally hand-made in Tokyo.

Down to its sole, Hender Scheme pays full homage to the brand as it retains key adidas elements like the brand’s BOOST sole. The HS ZX 500 RM is available in two leather variations — the first is a full, premium nude leather version and the second version features a combination of two leathers with a mesh textile underlay and pull-chord lacing system that is available in two colourways. Because of its pigment-treated leather, the sneakers have a rugged outlook that will develop a unique patina based on the wear and conditions they are exposed to!

ASICS Tiger x SBTG x LE

Now, this is a collaboration that is close to heart and you’ll want to know about it. This sneaker is inspired by the monsoon season in Singapore (yes, you heard that right), and it is called the Monsoon Patrol.

Mark Ong, a.k.a SBTG and dubbed as Singapore’s OG sneaker artist, is the brainchild behind the shoe and the collaboration with ASICS Tiger. The GEL-LYTE III shoe is weatherproof and made to withstand inclement conditions. Through unpredictable rains and scorching hot weather in Singapore, this shoe will brave the conditions!

The shoe features ASICS Tiger’s iconic GEL-LYTE silhouette, and updated features like the triple-density sole and a classic split-tongue design for a more contoured fit. SBTG also amped up the design with his signature colour of army green and camo prints!

The Monsoon Patrol Shoes retails for S$209 and will be available at LE stores from 1 December onwards.

ASICS Gel-Kayano 5 OG

This roundup wouldn’t be complete without a dad shoe that is all the rage this season. Dad shoes have actually been around longer than most of us may believe, going as far back as 1999 with the classic ASICS GEL-Kayano 5.

Today, this original high performance trainer has gotten a bold update with a fresh colour palette and a quadra-lacing system. Streetwear enthusiasts out there, this is another sneaker you will want to add to your collection.

The ASICS New Gel-Kayano 5 OG will be available for SGD189 at Dover Street Market and Limited Edt from 21 December onwards.

Onitsuka Tiger Holiday Series GSM

Okay, I know couple shoes sounds extremely cheesy, but pairing the right kind of shoes with your partner will make all the difference. This month, Onitsuka Tiger has debuted their Holiday Series GSM (acronym for “Game, Set, and Match”) that features a letterman jacket motif and unique zig-zag placement of the eyelets for better fit. The sneaker also comes in different colour schemes and design details for both men and women, making it the perfect gift exchange with your other half this Christmas!

The Onitsuka Tiger Holiday GSM will be available for S$159 at Onitsuka Tiger Suntec City, TRENDZ360 & AW LAB.

PUMA Muse Maia Luxe

This is another new sneaker by PUMA, and this time the special testimonial is the iconic model and actress, Cara Delevingne! This futuristic design marries both fashion and functionality — its split outsole makes this a great shoe for dancing and its metallic TPU detail creates a contrast with the blacks of the shoes, making it a fierce fashion statement for women to sport.

The Muse Maia Luxe echoes PUMA’s #DoYou campaign, in hopes of encouraging women to be confident, motivated, and uncompromising in every aspect of life, including their style. A fashion piece in support of a movement, it doesn’t get more meaningful than that!

The Muse Maia Luxe is available for S$179 on PUMA.com and in PUMA stores and AW Lab.

PUMA Cell Endura Women’s

Girls looking for sporty yet stylish kicks to rock on the daily should consider this release. In celebration of PUMA Cell’s 20th anniversary, the brand launches the CELL Endura Women’s — and its in a millennial pink shade! The PUMA Cell Endura first debuted in 1998, and has now received an upgrade in colour. Appealing to street style fashion, we are sure this chunky silhouette will be flying off the shelves soon.

The sneaker features the Cell technology for stable cushioning, breathable mesh upper with suede overlays and PU coated leather overlays cover the upper which sits atop an EVA midsole and rubber outsole.

The Cell Endura Women’s will be available for S$219 at PUMA MBS SELECT, Leftfoot, Limited Edt and Seek.

PUMA Thunder Disc x Les Benjamins

This is another chunky silhouette from PUMA, but this time it is a collaboration with luxury streetwear brand Les Benjamins. Now, PUMA Thunder Disc is a sneaker with a story. The shoe is more than its materials combined paying tribute to Les Benjamins heritage, one of its core textile used is a traditional Turkish carpet! Les Benjamins is known for translating local stories, cultures and rituals into craftsmanship, and this exclusive sneaker is another tour de force for the brand. The sleek black design with breathable-mesh and suede overlays makes this shoe easy to match, but still giving an edge to any outfit.

The PUMA Thunder Disc x Les Benjamins (SGD$240) will be available for purchase at Limited Edt. and Leftfoot during a special launch on 15th December 2018.

Nike x Carhartt WIP collection

We wouldn’t expect anything less from this two major brand collaborations as both brands are known for their trendy designs and timeless appeal. Nike and Carhart WIP have officially revealed their footwear collection that offers a workwear-meets-sportwear allure, in celebration of both their strengths. Signature Carhartt materials like the  Dearborn Canvas in Hamilton Brown and black and Camo Tiger Ripstop are used to update Signature Nike sneakers, with a total of four silhouettes to choose from: the Air Force 1 Low, Vandal Supreme High, Air Force 1 Low Utility and Air Max 95.

The footwear drops December 6 via nike.com, the SNKRS and SNKEAKRS apps, as well as at select retailers.
