Spotted: This Makeup Trend Was Seen All Over The 2019 Golden Globes

In case you missed it, we saw several A-list attendees at the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. Though the glamorous gowns were a sight to behold, we couldn’t neglect the looks above the neck, too. We’re talking about the makeup trend of the night: nude makeup.

Nude makeup seemed to be the theme du jour — think classic and minimal on the eyes, lips and cheeks. Its elegant and timeless reputation doesn’t extend much further than that. Still, these celebrity makeup artists, with a flick of their wrist, worked their magic and demonstrated just how resilient the nude tone can be applied to accent one’s features.

To embrace the nude makeup trend — that is, matte lips, soft eyes, and hints of glitter (yes, glitter) — it required some stretching of our creative muscles, but nothing we couldn’t do to recommend primo makeup products that would ace the job. Here are our top picks!

FOR THE EYES:

Marc Jacobs Beauty O!mega Shadow Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Perfect O! ($42), Dior Backstage Eye Palette ($83), Astalift Flarosso Intenso Eyeshadow in BR01 ($65)

Part of the “no-makeup makeup” appeal has always been the soft, natural-looking second-skin finish. If the word “subtle” happens to be part of your makeup vocabulary, maybe it’s time to turn to Marc Jacobs Beauty, Dior and Astalift. Juxtaposed with a thinly veiled layer of shimmer, these eyeshadow palettes promise not to sacrifice any of your glamour. Add to cart.

FOR THE FACE:

With a glow-enhancing balm for the face, a customisable palette for your favourite blush, contour or concealer, and a foundation stick to boot, these products are a bible for the bare-face game and promise to up the ante on achieving that natural-looking glow. Chanel, Gesgep and By Terry are clearly onto something…  and if you’re looking to have buildable coverage and a fresh, dewy effect, these babies just about do it.

FOR THE LIPS:

Nude lipsticks with a sheer finish commanded special attention at the Golden Globe Awards, as did matte textures. With all kinds of understated glam, celebrities like Emily Blunt and Constance Wu had us reaching for peach, taupe and beige-pink tones in favour of a deeper hue.
