The Beauty Looks That Slayed At The 2019 Grammys

Only if we’re truly lucky, we’ll score a highly coveted invitation to the 61st edition of the Grammys. Jealousy notwithstanding, we’re captivated with these red carpet darlings and their beauty looks from the 2019 Grammy Awards. With the biggest night in music comes beauty inspiration aplenty: Lady Gaga’s smokey eye, Cardi B’s poppin’ pink eyeshadow, Alessia Cara’s crimson pout.

While it takes a lot of work, expertise — and, yes, money — to achieve their head-turning looks, we’re serving up a dose of makeup products to recreate our favourite beauty moments from the Grammys. Get ready to take some serious notes.

CARDI B

First solo female artist to win Best Rap Album of the year Cardi B shows how to blend romantic with edgy: a soft nude lip, a vibrant pink eyeshadow with dramatic lashes.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fu$$y ($31), Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered Palette ($100)

To create the same soft elegance effect, this eyeshadow palette by Huda Beauty promises that brilliant colour pop from its matte and metallic textures. We’re talking less princess and more punk vibes.

LADY GAGA

Marc Jacobs Beauty Global Artistry Ambassador, Sarah Tanno gave Lady Gaga a glowy beauty look that we’re still dreaming about and used the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, which we’ve already added to cart. With smudged-black lids and satin peach lips, her look screams rock culture.

To copy those smokey lids, take a page from Gaga’s book and use their long-lasting gel eyeliner that promises 12-hour waterproof wear, and then add a little lip gloss to complete the look.

ALESSIA CARA

Wear your brightest red lipstick and lightly slicked back hair — like singer Alessia Cara — and you’re the epitome of one-stop chic. While channelling old Hollywood glamour, the internet had some positive thoughts and shared their love for her glammed up red carpet look.

Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Vday Set ($120), Dior Eyeliner Waterproof #094 Trinidad Black ($34)

A watermelon lip with a peachy undertone creates one gorgeous date-night combo that’s oh-so-suitable for Valentine’s Day. When the Hourglass lipstick V-Day set hit our inbox, our eyes surely did a little dance. Dior’s eyeliner also pulls double duty by delivering a soft, blended line along with a waterproof formula. It promises not to smudge (even if the waterworks come after your boo surprises you with something special).

CAMILA CABELLO

The Havana singer stunned in a bright pink sequin gown with a toned down beauty look to match. Camila sported a glamorous yet natural-looking smokey eye, using taupes and olive tints, completed with a peachy lip shade.

And since being dressed to the nines in sparkling gowns is a pipe dream (for some), we’re more invested in the makeup look — a creamy glittering eyeshadow, a blusher for cheek-glowing radiance and a plumping pink lipstick — which feels much more achievable.

JANELLE MONAE

The makeup created for actress Janelle Monae is a perfect example of the glow-meets-glitter look and immediately bumps up a classic smokey eye. We’ll bite.
