Converse is rolling out a newly designed collection featuring three bespoke silhouettes and it’s all about — yes, you guessed it, female empowerment. Making up the capsule is the brand’s iconic Chuck 70s constructed in blue, rhubarb and black. The collection actually includes a total of 17 styles, with other silhouettes such as the One Star and Dainty.
Undoubtedly known as one of the few brands in the industry for being a vehicle for its wearers to reflect their personal identity through their shoes, we can all agree that this time, Converse is stepping things up by supporting the cause for female empowerment and progress.
The “LOVE THE PROGRESS” Collection was first inspired by women of the past and present, and emphasises on how women are now capable of redefining the gender in their own terms. The latest arrival of the range also comes as one of the very few collections to be crafted by female designers who aim to promote the power of love, unity and community through each and every pair. In fact, it actually reminds us about the collab with Converse x MadeMe that was released last year which was also about Girl Power!
STAND UP FOR THE CAUSE
In an effort to gain more attention to the cause, Converse will also be giving out blank postcards at all Converse boutique stores to allow consumers to write down their thoughts of redefining the definition of “GIRL”. Here’s the catch, once that’s all written and submitted, the postcards will be sent to lexicographers from around the world, before being compiled for an even bigger project for the cause. Now, wouldn’t you spend a few seconds of your time supporting such a meaningful cause, especially if it’s all in the name of GRL PWR?
So if you’re a millennial dream girl who’s all about being independent or if you have a place in your heart for female empowerment and progress, then you should definitely cop a pair from this collection.
Chuck 70 Hi Celestial Teal
In this collection, expect designs that are edgy yet feminine, with details of bold graphic prints and written messages that are available in meaningful colourways. The single tone upper for this celestial teal pair comes in soft premium leather and is accompanied with the word “GIRL” written across on its rubber taping.
Chuck 70 Hi Rhubarb
Looking for the perfect statement shoe to add to your rotation, enter this rhubarb pair by Converse. Besides sporting a bright vibrant upper, this Chuck 70 pair is contrasted with a black rubber sole, with the words “Love” and “Fear” detailing the sides, to add some colour and sass to your spring wardrobe. The soles are also decked with hearts, similar to that of the other two designs, to add a touch of femininity and uniqueness to your usual pair of Converse.

With the former two featuring the brand’s signature Chuck 70s Hi, the latter favours a lower cut in black — that gives an edgier vibe to your look and is one that’s totally versatile. This iteration works for your everyday look and can be paired with a pair of pants, a skirt or even a dress! The shoes are also accented with statements along the rubber taping with the words “Keep Loving” and “Keep Fighting” — that’s in line with the cause of the project. Hearts also embellish the soles of the shoes adding a subtle (but cute) accent to the low-top pair.
