Show-Stopping Style on the 2019 Oscars Red Carpet

Must the show always go on? At this year’s Oscars red carpet, there were some looks that we could gawk at forever! Here are our picks for this year’s red carpet hits.

Lady Gaga

The A Star is Born actress served an iconic look, channeling Audrey Hepburn in a sleek up-do and Alexander McQueen gown. She truly went all-in, flaunting a 128.54-carat, 141-year-old Yellow Diamond from Tiffany & Co. around her neck— the very same diamond worn by Hepburn herself in 1961, giving us the full Breakfast at Tiffany’s fantasy we didn’t know we needed. We love how she added some edge to an otherwise classic look with statement structured hips. Gaga’s makeup artist @sarahtannomakeup kept it classic, with neutral eyes and a soft rose nude lip using Marc Jacobs products.

Chadwick Boseman was certainly style-savvy in this set by Givenchy Haute Couture, right off the Fall 2018 runway. The Black Panther lead is known for his bold and unconventional red carpet fashion choices, and in this sequin-embellished long jacket and a draping collared shirt, he certainly stood out from the countless black tuxedos.

Larson, who plays the latest superhero Captain Marvel, stunned in a metallic silver gown featuring a unique spin on the halterneck cut, and a sexy high slit. Minimal strappy heels were the perfect complement to the sleek look. The actress also sported a fresh-faced Chanel makeup look by @ninapark with neat brows and a matte lip.

Talk about going for (mari)gold! Constance Wu’s bespoke Versace gown may be yellow, but it has us green with envy— it’s a stunner and she wore it well! The Crazy Rich Asians actress looked like a Disney princess dream in the gauzy tulle layers of the dress, and the crystal-trimmed off-shoulder neckline flatteringly showed off her décolletage. Wu accessorised with jewellery made with Swarovski Created Diamonds and Swarovski Genuine Topaz, set in responsibly sourced gold. Paired with a simple makeup look accented by a red lip, Constance Wu looked amazing and we all wish we could introduce her to our mothers.

The Pose star stole our breath in this extravagant Christian Siriano tuxedo-dress, in luxurious black velvet with romantic ruffled sleeves and matching bow-tie. The number fit him wonderfully, we love the dramatic contrast between the perfectly cinched waist and ballroom skirt ballooning around him. Props to Porter for his unconventional choice, showing that fashion is fierce and fearless.

While there are divided opinions on the actress’ Valentino Haute Couture Sping/Summer 2018 dress, we are feeling the hot pink prairie fantasy. The tiered, oversized look was a sight to behold, and we thought that the Crazy Rich Asians actress pulled it off swimmingly. If you’re going to go all out, why not go all out? The exaggerated ruffled collar and train really makes it for us; this a fully-committed ensemble, and props to Gemma Chan for wearing it with finesse.
