As most of Karl Lagerfeld’s homages to Gabriel Chanel go, he doesn’t mince details when it comes to revamping essential elements of her personal style. He incorporated gold, so cherished by Coco, into the Métiers d’art 2018/19 Paris – New York collection.
There’s a lot of shimmering gold to take in, but be sure to zoom in on the more sophisticated details to catch things like pyramid-style clutches and knitwear cardigans embellished with patinated gold metal buttons.
METIERS D’ART COLLECTION: RUNWAY
Taking on a modern interpretation of Egyptian style, the runway looks are streamlined with geometric and sharp tailoring while still maintaining its elegant details. Not into leather trimmed jackets? What about an evening dress with sleeves that open out like butterflies? You’ll want to rethink that come this collection.

Chanel staples were in full swing: layered pearl necklaces, tweed suiting in all of its stellar silhouettes, statement accessories graffitied with camellias and double Cs, and one thing’s for sure — they were all fabulous.
