Drawing inspiration from everyday details on the streets of Tokyo and Seoul, makeup artist Lucia Pica has taken a fresh approach that uses light to define features, creating the CHANEL Cruise 2019 makeup collection. It’s slightly edgier than past collections and pays homage to contemporary East Asia by capturing its very essence. Here are some of the photos from her trip that inspired this collection.
The atmospheric light of what Pica saw in East Asia has great influence on this collection, with the intensity lying in the contrast between subtle contouring and high-gloss accents. According to her, “the woman who wears this collection is interested in the subtleties of things, things that take longer to discover”, and it’s not hard to see why.
This collection places emphasis on subtle contouring, and what better way than with the Duo Bronze et Lumière that mattifies and highlights your face? The duo features a matte bronzer and pearlescent highlighter for a sunkissed face, one that’s less to do with heavy shading, but a lighter, more luminous finish.
As for the eyes, depth and definition are created with the use of cream shades, while colours and highlights are achieved with the powders and gloss! The Ombre Première Gloss for example, will create a soft, sophisticated look with its translucency.
