If you’ve watched Mr. Bean then surely you must’ve seen his lime green car in one of his episodes. And if so, you should be able to recognise a MINI on the road even if you have no knowledge about cars.
This year marks the 6th decade since Alex Issigonis designed the first original MINI in 1959. Since then, the car has undergone changes but retained a number of key design elements, allowing it to remain as iconic as ever.
Design Philosophy
After 60 years, new generation MINIs have grown bigger, but the iconic design philosophy never changes. The round headlights, the “box-car” shape, contrasting side mirrors, and shape of the front grille all remains an endearing constant across all generations of MINIs.
To celebrate its 60th birthday, Mini Asia and Eurokars Habitat introduced an exclusive design – the Mini 60 Years Edition.
Design Features
The 60th Anniversary model features a British Racing Green paintwork that pays homage to its racing roots. And just to remind you of its 60th anniversary, there are special anniversary designs and logos slapped everywhere. Like on the side scuttles of the turn indicators, 17″ spoke light alloy wheels in Dark Spectre Grey with Burnished Spokes and even LED projection of its logo on the floor when opening and closing the doors.
In the interior cabin, you’ll find even more of it. The 60 Years logo is emblazoned on the sports leather steering wheel, Dark Maroon leather seats, and door sill finishers.
The MINI 60 Years Lifestyle Collection
Also part of its celebrations is the collection of lifestyle clothes and accessories that carries on the brand’s iconic colours and stripes.
