The Retro Cassette Player’s Getting A Bluetooth Upgrade

If you were born in the ’80s or ’90s, you’d be familiar with this relic from the days of yore. Remember the familiar and satisfying click as you insert the tape and hit play? And if god forbid the tape jams and unspools, you’ve to use a pencil just to wind it back into the cassette? Oh yes, good times.

In today’s day and age with Spotify and Apple Music, we don’t even play music anymore. It’s all about streaming. And it’s a safe bet to say kids today probably don’t even know what a cassette tape is. I mean, just look at how confused these kids are trying to figure it out. There’s no way this plays music Dad, you’re pranking us!

Cassette players and tapes have their charm alright, precisely because they’re so retro and nostalgic. But with all the digital device we have today, is there a place for an analogue music player? NINM Lab seems to think so.

World’s First Bluetooth Portable Cassette Player

From where dreams are born, NINM Lab is raising funds on Kickstarter for their IT’S OK Bluetooth 5.0 Portable Cassette Player. It’s the world’s first cassette player that lets you listen to old school tapes with your wireless headset or even blast it on a Bluetooth speaker. From an analogue audio cassette player, imagine that!

It’s even rocking the latest Bluetooth 5.0. This allows for seamless playback (quicker transfer speeds), connectivity and also greater playback range. But there’s still a 3.5mm headphone jack if you really want to be nostalgic af.

Making Mixtapes Great Again

There’s more though. Surely you didn’t forget about the recording function – because that’s how legendary mixtapes were made. Manually recording songs from the radio into a thoughtfully put together mixtape and gifting it to someone always seems more… Magical and personal. It sure is a lot nicer than just sending someone a link to a Spotify playlist you created. Where’s the fun in that?

If you’re from the ’80s or ’90s and can’t wait to slap a cassette tape into a player again to bring back all the feels from the good ol’ days, maybe you should check it out. Or if you want to bamboozle those ignorant Gen-Z kids just for kicks, then that’s another reason to get one. There are definitely still cassette players and tapes out there and available for less, but if you want to use it with your Bluetooth headsets then the IT’S OK is the only one of its kind.

IT’S OK Bluetooth 5.0 Portable Cassette Player is available in Sakura pink, Cloud white and Evening navy blue. Get it now on Kickstarter from USD 63. Expected retail price is USD 88. The expected delivery date for 1st batch of IT’S OK is in Dec 2019. For more info, click here.
