Editing Beauty III Tutorial : Drawing Eye Lines with the Iconic K-Palette 1Day Tattoo Real Strong Liquid Eyeliner

I love drawing eye lines with a liquid liner. I find that there’s much less smudging, it lasts longer than gel and pencil eyeliners, and the look is smoother and more intense. One of the most famous liquid eyeliners has to be the 1Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner from Japanese drugstore brand, K-Palette. You’ve probably seen this product hanging on the shelves at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa or even Don Don Donki. The red packaging is outstanding, and this brand was the first to use the “Tattoo” term for eyeliners (we now see this with Kat Von D and even L’Oreal eyeliners). Don’t be fooled by its name though; it’s not permanent like a tattoo. It lasts well throughout the day, but it does come off fully with a good makeup remover.

I’ve gone through at least 10 of these Real Lasting Eyeliners in the past few years, and this is really one of those makeup products that you can depend on. It performs consistently, and does exactly what it claims on the box:

  • it’s long lasting
  • water-resistant
  • easy to draw with
  • is super black
  • dries quickly
  • has 5 beauty essences to care for skin

I particularly like that this eyeliner layers over eyeshadow really well. Even when I pile on darker shades for a smokey eye look, this liquid formula stands out over any makeup below it. The line is intense, defined and glossy.

REAL STRONG  💪

Last year, K-Palette released a new version of this cult liquid eyeliner, called Real Strong Eyeliner. It’s the brand’s longest-lasting liquid liner yet, and probably one of the longest-lasting in the market as well. It’s similar to the original Real Lasting Eyeliner, but has 7 beauty essences instead of 5, is said to last through outdoor activities including sports, and offers 1.5x more coating ingredients, which makes it last even longer than its predecessor.

The 7 beauty essences are:

  1. Panthenol — a form of vitamin B5, used as a moisturiser and lubricating compound
  2. Ceramide NP — replenishes skin’s natural lipids, strengthening its protective barrier
  3. Ceramide AP — same function as Ceramide NP
  4. Ceramide EOP — same function as Ceramide NP
  5. Water Soluble Collagen — has high water-binding properties which help to keep skin plump
  6. Succinoyl Atelocollagen — a highly purified form of collagen that maintains skin elasticity
  7. Hydrolyzed Collagen —hydrates the skin and penetrates easily with its low molecular weight form

For this tutorial, we’re using the new Real Strong Eyeliner in Super Black to create four different looks:

  1. a straightforward thin eye line
  2. a thicker, more dramatic line
  3. lining the lower eyelids
  4. a fun, creative, graphic eye look

I discovered throughout this shoot that the Real Strong Eyeliner has a formula that is incredibly buildable. The makeup artist, Dollei went over the same line several times and the product didn’t flake or peel off at all. It dries quickly allowing a new layer to be drawn on top of it. And while the formula is waterproof, at the end of the shoot, we managed to easily remove it with an oil cleanser, and there were no stains.
