You can try it out for yourself with the first shoe in the Nike Joyride series – Nike Joyride Run Flyknit, one of Nike’s more popular silhouettes.

996 Series

A favourite go-to shoe for many since ’88, the New Balance 996 series has gone on to be a classic offering from the brand. But now, it’s gotten a re-design with 6 new designs from 6 different Japanese collaborators! We have the 3 understated designs in the series for versatile pair you can wear with anything. The New Balance X United Arrows is definitely the most subtle of the set with its clean all while full-grain leather design and just a hint of burnt orange for a pop of colour. Then, there’s the New Balance X N. Hoolywood (no, that’s not a typo) sneakers which is vintage-inspired with its neutral and yellow tones as a homage to New Balance’s heritage. There is also another retro/ vintage- inspired offering in the form of New Balance X Nonnative sneakers which have a concrete grey and yellow-ish colourway for an urban feel.

There’s also 3 more designs which are definitely a little more unique. First, there’s the New Balance X Mita 996 sneakers which have taken literal inspiration from the iconic Shibuya Crossing with its striped colour blocking and a bright neon green ‘N’ logo to represent the traffic light. Second is the New Balance X Beam Plus which is inspired by American saddle shoes and is made of a mix of suede and leather for the upper. And lastly, the most bold pair in the series, is the New Balance X Atmos pair which probably has every summer-y colour you can think of on it. It is intentionally mismatched for a bright and playful look that will just put a smile on your face.

$189-229, available at New Balance Jewel Changi store for all 6 designs and additionally at New Balance Paragon store for New Balance X Mita, New Balance X Beam Plus and New Balance X N. Hoolywood.

996v2

Not to be confused with the New Balance 996 Series, the  original New Balance 996 is getting a re-imagining as well. Its successor, version two of the 996 has gotten a “heritage-inspired” makeover with 3 neutral colourways – black, white and navy – which is complemented with grey detailing for an urban feel. However, they have retained the timeless silhouette and superior underfoot cushioning for the same comfort.

adidas + KANYE WEST

YEEZY BOOST 500 Bone White

Love him or hate him, Kayne’s Yeezys have become a cultural phenomenon. The latest release Yeezy Boost 500 Bone White is a departure from the previous models of Yeezy 500 that feature more tonal looks. The new version has a more monochromatic look with a light grey upper composed of cow suede, premium leather and mesh, and a white adiPRENE+ midsole for cushioning and optimizing rebound. Moreover, there are reflective piping details around the lace eyelets for added visibility in low-light conditions and of course, the chunky base with a light rubber outsole for traction. This is also a special release as it is the first Yeezy  500 to be released in full family sizes (infant, kids and adults). Now, you can have matching Yeezys like the Kardashian West family!

$150-300, available at Adidas Originals Pacific Plaza from 24 August 2019.

YEEZY BOOST 700 Multi Solid Grey/Chalk White/Core Black ‘Waverunner’

The first iteration of the Yeezy Boost 700, aka the Yeezy Wave Runner 700, became popular as the first “chunky running shoe” of the adidas + Kanye West line when it was released a year ago. The latest iteration, in a multi-colour combination of solid grey, chalk white and core black, is likely to be just as popular. The Yeezy Boost 700 features an upper with grey and black suede overlays and premium leather with blue mesh underlays. To top off the look, you have the reflective heel and Three Stripe details, and a full-length drop in boost midsole. Pops of orange and teal green act as an accent colour, just like in some of the previous versions. Like the Yeezy Boost 500, this release will also be available in full family sizes.

$240-450, available at Adidas Originals Pacific Plaza.

LONGCHAMP

Freeminder Sneaker

The Freeminder sneaker is Longchamp’s offering of a go-to everyday sneaker for any occasions, be it a dressed-up look or a casual everyday affair. The shoes feature trendy elements like chunky, wedge-shaped outsoles and no-tie elastic lace but they also exude elegance and sophistication with details like a silver-tone toggle referencing the House’s iconic bamboo on the elastic lace and the Longchamp racehorse on the sole. The sneakers are also available in a variety of prints such as a combination of python and crocodile-styled calfskin in black and white or colour-blocked in soft blue and beige suede. Of course, if you’re too torn about which colours to buy, we recommend the all-white pair for easy styling.

$625-810, available at all Longchamp boutiques islandwide.

ASICS

ASICS GEL-BND

ASICS GEL-BND is back by popular demand in seven new original colourways. The shoes which were introduced earlier in April combined the best elements of some of ASICS classic sneakers for high functionality, and more importantly, a one-of-a-kind look. Yet, it’s still versatile enough to pair well with differing streetwear looks. Despite its chunky shape, the ASICS GEL-BND maintains a lightweight feel and provides high comfort like the originals. The current release sees the addition of all-white and all-black versions (exclusively at JD Sports though), a black and grey version and some versions numerous bright colours in kids sizes.

$89-109, available at all ASICS stores and online

ASICSTIGER X VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

ASICS X Vivienne Westwood’s second collaboration consists of three ASICSTIGER shoe models championing the spirit of Vivienne Westwood through classic iconography from the fashion label. The ASICS X Vivienne Westwood HyperGEL-LYTE™ features 18th-century French artist François Boucher’s Daphnis & Chloe oil painting on the upper of the shoe in vivid colours. It’s significant as it was also featured in Vivienne Westwood’s Autumn/Winter 1990 collection ‘Portrait’.

The GELSAGA™ is made of a clean white leather, perfect for an everyday sneaker. However, it also has a hidden Daphnis & Chloe painting printed on the bottom of the sole, covered with a translucent outsole for extra protection. The GEL-DS TRAINER™ OG shoe is inspired by the iconic Vivienne Westwood multi-coloured orb logo but transformed to give a graphic look to it using mesh materials in pops of primary colours from the logo. In this model (as well as in the GELSAGA™ ), Daphnis & Chloe is featured on the innersole of the sneaker.

$219-249, available at Vivienne Westwood Anglomania at Scotts Square and Isetan Scotts, Limited Edt Vault at 313@Somerset and MBS Chamber, and Tyan Boutique at ION Orchard, and online.

PUMA

PUMA X SUE TSAI

New York-based artist Sue Tsai’s second collaboration with Puma features four of PUMA’s iconic shoe silhouettes reimagined with Tsai’s signature floral motifs, bee imagery and camouflage patterns. The four shoes – PUMA Cali, PUMA Aeon, PUMA NOVA, PUMA Basket – feature scribbled lines of poetry, hand-drawn doodles, vibrant embroidery and chenille fabric (you know that fuzzy caterpillar-like fabric? That’s the one!). The concept of the line is “Love 101” aka first loves so it makes sense that the poetry lines are romantic in nature and the colours used as the backdrop are bright youthful hues like pink, yellow and white.

$169-189, available at PUMA Bugis+, ION Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport, PUMA Select at MBS and Paragon, as well as retailers CK TANGS and Star 360.

PUMA X RHUDE

PUMA debuts its first-ever collection with LA-based streetwear brand RHUDE. With clients like Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and A$AP Rocky, it’s safe to say RHUDE is the talk of the town. The collection highlights RHUDE’s unique take on iconography and marrying of minimalistic effortless style and streetwear sensibilities.  At the same time, the collection embraces the brand DNA of PUMA with their iconic silhouettes.

$209-239, available at PUMA SELECT MBS as well as retailers Depression and Footlocker.

RS 9.8

Inspired by the speed of gravitational acceleration on Earth’s surface, the RS 9.8 sneaker pack from PUMA consists of 3 cosmo-themed colourways for a galactic feel. The silhouette itself is borrowed from parts of other models in the RS family such as their sock liners and RS foam. It has a characteristic light-weight PU midsole which allows it to remain light on your feet despite its seemingly chunky aesthetic.

$159, available at PUMA Bugis+, Century Square, ION Orchard, JEM, Jewel Changi Airport, MBS SELECT, People’s Park OG, Paragon, Robinsons, VivoCity, Suntec City and TANGS.

MUSE X-2 METALLIC

A popular sneaker model amongst women, the PUMA MUSE is getting a makeover with modern elements for a fresh new look. The MUSE X-2 METALLIC features an updated tongue construction, PUMA logo taping and a larger glossy metallic TPU piece for a more standout look. The colourway of black and pink gives the shoes a sleek feel with a feminine touch.

$149, available at PUMA Bugis+, Century Square, CK Tangs, ION Orchard, JEM, MBS SELECT, People’s Park OG, Paragon, VivoCity and Suntec City, and at Feder Sports, Limited edt., Sole Central and Royal Sporting House.

ONITSUKA TIGER

FABRE BL-S 2.0

Many shoe brands have been updating and re-releasing their classic sneakers in the recent months and Onitsuka Tiger has joined the bandwagon with the FABRE BL-S 2.0, inspired by the basketball shoe 1975 FABRE BL-S. The shoe has an integrated tongue and upper for better security when you’re out on the court. For added comfort, the newer rendition has a thicker moulded insole. The uppers are available in two styles (suede, like the originals, or leather for a sleeker look) and 5 colour combinations (the purple and yellow pair is perfect fans of a certain American West Coast basketball team, just saying).

$129, available at Onitsuka Tiger Ngee Ann City, Jewel Changi Airport and Suntec City.

Onitsuka Tiger × “KKtP”

The Japanese shoe brand is celebrating their 70th anniversary with a special collaboration with seven celebrated designers from Japan and abroad, with launches throughout the year. The second launch is with Shanghai-based “KKtP” designer, Kim Kiroic on the “TIGER CORSAIR”. The shoes originally launched in the 1970s has gotten a playful touch entire upper covered with translucent material. Otherwise, fans of the original pair can expect the same iconic “TIGER CORSAIR” colours and classic appearance that is so well-loved.

$159, available at Onitsuka Tiger Ngee Ann City and Jewel Changi Airport.
