Topshop’s Idol Pre-Fall 2019 Collection Is Here To Rock-N-Roll

Get your wallets ready because Topshop has just released their third Idol Collection for Pre-Fall 2019, and it’s too cool for words.

Inspired by the rock and roll essence of the ‘80s, the collection features beautiful grungy pieces like vintage florals, sheer ruffle tops and a lot (a lot) of leather. Think Pattie Smith and Joan Jett but with a modern-day twist.

Topshop’s Idol Collection is a designer-driven and premium offering for those looking to snap up pieces that are a little more luxe while still being relatively affordable. The collection was led by Topshop’s Design Director, Anthony Cuthbertson, who also adds that the Pre-Fall Collection is meant to perfectly bridge the gap between Summer and Winter.

A lot of Fall/ Winter Collections from our favourite brands can be less than practical in Singapore (unless you’re going to a cooler climate for holidays, lucky you). However, the Idol Pre-Fall Collection seems to hit that sweet spot. And while we may not have winter in Singapore, the constant changes in our weather present the same challenges.

Looking at the forecast for the upcoming weeks, you’ll definitely need transitional pieces to bring you from mornings filled with thunderstorms to scorching hot afternoons. The collection surprisingly has a number of shorts and above-the-knee skirts that are necessary for the heat. There are also a few standouts like the printed flowy dresses that are light and breezy.

The collection fuses clashing prints, updated cuts and embellishment to create signature Topshop looks, according to Anthony, and we agree. The styling and pieces feature that classic rocker-chic, ‘trendy but a little edgy’ vibes that we get when we think of Cara Delevingne and Alexa Chung.

However, this collection also has a stronger bohemian influence with the dazzling paisley prints, heavy doses of lace and flowy midi dresses. Amidst the feminine styles, you’ll also find easy-to-wear pieces that can become classics in your wardrobe, especially the trousers and outerwear.
