Klook, the destination-based booking platform, is organizing its first-ever Klook Travel Festival in Singapore from 5 to 6th October this year. Held at Suntec City Convention Centre, the Klook Travel Festival is a free event that promises a new way of navigating for a great travel deal. They are removing the incessant sales pitches and flyers with the same old travel packages at traditional fairs and replacing it with a mobile-led experiential format.

Meant specifically for FITs (Free and Independent Travellers), the event approaches the concept of a travel fair differently than traditional ones to better address the needs of this growing segment. And don’t be confused, it’s not an event only for millennial travelers as many retirees and families are also becoming a part of this group; travelers who are forgoing group tours and mass tourism in favour of planning their own trips.

Here’s a breakdown of all the highlights of this event:

IT’S INSTAGRAMMABLE

The event will have 8 “photogenic experiential travel zones” aka photo booths with backdrops of popular scenic destinations from all the different regions. The iconic photo spots include the Bali Swing in Thailand, Stylenanda bathtub in Korea and the Trevi fountain in Rome. It’s a good way to trick your friends on Instagram stories into thinking you visited all these places (psst, be sure to space them over the span of a few days to make it believable).

However, don’t get too distracted taking your pictures as these will be frequent 1-1 flash deals and klook promo codes on stage and at each of these zones. There will also be themed booths Universal Studios Japan, Hong Kong Disneyland and Sunway Lagoon Malaysia, just to name a few.

IT’S DIY

Similar to the “build-a-bear” concept, this “Build-your-own-holiday” station allows you to pick and choose your own activities to curate your holiday to perfection. You can choose from some very standard tourist-y activities to others which are off the beaten path.

ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE

Rather than having salespeople hound you like at other fair, Klook has an ‘Ask Klook’ carousel where you can go to them as and when you like in regards to any questions you might have. This is also a good place to go for some travel advice when you’re inevitably overwhelmed by all interesting travel info. And an easy way to spot these ‘Ask Klook’ stations is to look out for a rail booth. Designed to look like a train station, there will also be rail experts from Japan, Europe, and China who can advise you on more affordable ways to travel within the region or country.

IT HAS INTERESTING AND ENGAGING SPEAKERS

With talks from travel video blogger Nas Daily, travel correspondents from The Straits Times, and local influencer BongQiuQiu amongst others, you can be sure to get some engaging talks that have tips and tricks on how to get the most out of a trip. Not only that, but there will also be a talk by GoPro on how to use the GoPro to capture epic travel moments and one by Have Halal Will Travel on the best “halal-certified” travel destinations.

EVERYONE’S A WINNER

With so many different ways to win prizes and attractive prizes valued at a total of $50,000, it’s very possible for you to walk away with a few goodies at the end of the day.

Here’s a list of all the ways you can win big:

Pre-purchase an entrance pass to the event to be automatically enrolled into a lucky draw with prizes such as flight tickets and attraction passes. Just be sure to stay until 6 pm which is when the draw happens (you have to be there in person to collect your prize).

Be one of the first 500 people to enter the event on each of the days to receive a good bag with vouchers from Agoda, Sephora, Klook and GoPro. Two of these bags will contain a hidden golden ticket to score return tickets to Osaka or Taipei, courtesy of Scoot. Another two golden tickets will allow you to win a two-night hotel stay in Taipei, courtesy of Agoda.

The first 100 visitors to spend $1,500 will get to win prizes which include flight tickets to Australia, hotel stays in various countries, and GoPros.

Use your UOB card. As the official card partner, UOB is presenting its cardmembers to get additional redemptions for 1-for-1 deals and 18% off on all Klook activities at the event.

IT’S YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP

If you don’t end up winning a prize (though unlikely) or need to get some travel-related shopping done, you can do some retail therapy at the event. With official partners like Agoda, Scoot, Shoppe, Thai Airways, Etiqa Insurance, and GoPro, you can do your shopping for every part of a trip, all under one roof.
