Cotton grown and harvested… in a desert?
Muji’s autumn 2019 flannel collection features everything from button-downs and blouses to tunics and pullover dresses and even kidswear. Made from 100% organic cotton (all of Muji’s clothes have been 100% organically sourced since 2018), did you know the cotton was harvested in a desert?
Yes, a desert. Specifically in Xinjiang, China. While it may sound like the most unusual of places to grow cotton, it’s paradoxically the best place for it.
The desert temperature keeps out bugs and the lack of rain prevents the cotton from getting wet, which helps retain its colour and softness. In essence, the perfect environment to produce the finest quality cotton.
