With nostalgia running on an all-time high for the ’90s, brands like Motorola have jumped on the bandwagon by resurrecting a classic from the iconic RAZR line (read: the newly reinvented Motorola Razr).
Now, if you’ve been part of the generation where flip phones were a thang or if it was the first phone you got your hands on (and how it ended up in almost every music video throughout the 80s and 90s) then you’re probably no stranger to Motorola’s line of tech. Just like the ongoing craze about the 90s trend that’s been setting the community ablaze, some things that were left in the past remain so relatable and nostalgic, you can pick it up from where you left it.
Making a radical comeback and tapping into nostalgia, the new Motorola RAZR sees a new modern take to its design and a few changes to its specs — hoping to ride a fad into people’s pockets (iPhone 11, who?) — well, at least as an option to some of us.
Built with a 6.2-inch OLED Flex Display, the 2019 version maintains its functional general aesthetic that folds into half — protecting the screen from scratches and making it convenient to pop it into your bag or your pockets! It also comes with a 2.7-inch exterior Quick View OLED display of which you can manage your notifications and music controls with, at the touch of a button, and a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone.
On top of that, it also comes with a 2,510mAh battery, Snapdragon 710, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage space, USB-C, eSIM and an Android 9.0 Pie, and an internal nano-coating for splash resistance which gives it an upper hand considering the older versions of the Razr line.
Despite it’s iconic vintage design, the compact phone still falls short in other areas when put into comparison with other modern smartphones. For instance, their midrange camera features which sees a 5MP internal camera and 16MP f/1.7 primary camera that comes with Night vision mode. Although it might not seem that big of a deal for those who aren’t as concerned about the feature, it’s best for you to know now that the Razr also comes with a hefty price tag of USD$1,500.
Sure, it may be a little more affordable when put into comparison with the Galaxy Fold, but for the price that you’re paying for, you might want to reconsider your options.
The Motorola Razr is set to release on Boxing Day (Dec 26) and will be available for pre-order and in stores at Verizon in the US from January 2020. On the flip side, no word of its availability outside of the US has been released but we’ll update once more info from Motorola is in.
