Old Materials Come To Life At petit h By Hermès

Say bonjour to petit h — a travelling workshop that’s making Singapore its last stop of 2019. Founded by artistic director Pascale Mussard in 2010, artisans and artists have come together to create brand new, unique pieces from the old, used and discarded. Created from material handed down by Hermès métiers that no longer have any use for, the objects that make up petit h are familiar, but have been created with a reverse approach. There is no grand design — form is given to what has been leftover: leather, silk, metal, porcelain, horsehair and more. The improvisation is left to the artists, and the appreciation is left to the audience.

This year, petit h has landed at the Liat Towers boutique in the form of a pop-up created in collaboration with Singaporean industrial designer Olivia Lee. The brainchild behind the space has created two new worlds — The first is a planet cast in signature Hermès Orange, with newly-created lifeforms crafted from Hermès materials.

Upstairs, flashing buttons, conveyor belts and vine-covered walls combine to create a futuristic laboratory where you might just be able to satisfy your sensory receptors. Here, you find even more ways to appreciate the petit h collection, with delicately crafted accessories hanging from the walls just waiting to be picked up — every single unique, one-of-a-kind item is available for you to purchase and bring home.

Of course, no pop-up is ever complete without a signature Singaporean twist. Trees, plants and flowers grace the space in even the most unexpected places. Also be on the look out for a few lovely local surprises, including our beloved durian! Pigs in leather, fur and silk can also be found across the space, often accompanied by the odd mushroom paperweight. At petit h, prepare for an immersive experience like no other.
