A Round-Up of Red Packets That We Would Love to Receive This Chinese New Year

It’s that time of the year again where families gather to enjoy each other’s company, good food and receive (or distribute) red packets! Creatively designed with multiple festive colours, these red packets often turn into a collectible item especially when they’ve been intricately crafted for the zodiac year.

Here’s a list of unique red packets from brands across various categories that you might just collect this year!

If you’ve seen our list of luxury red packets last year, then you would know that high-end brands really spare no expense when it comes to designing red packets that are representative of their image and style. Be it the return of (the NYLON team’s favourite) Saint Laurent’s minimalist design, the simplistic geometric rat head design by MCM or Givenchy’s CNY capsule collection inspired red packets, luxury brands sure know how to leave an impression during the Chinese New Year!

Apart from being great with their range of makeup and skincare, beauty brands have also stepped up their game with their aesthetic red packet designs for this festive time of year. Two eye-catching ones from the lot (in our opinion) would definitely be The House of Whoo, with their fabric-inspired red packet, as well as Shiseido’s bright and glittery Japanese-themed red packet envelope!

In addition to their know-how in producing the snack essentials for CNY, brands in the F&B industry are also no strangers to the red packet business. While some brands tend to take the traditional route with their designs, there are some that take things to the next level — like Magnum’s ingenious red packet design that’s inspired by their signature ice cream bars!

Another kind of red packet design that we look forward to receiving is the ones with familiar television characters on the front. As fans of Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears, we were overjoyed to receive their themed red packets for 2020 which featured the brothers looking incredibly festive in their CNY outfits.

The last category in our red packet round-up covers designs from brands that help shape our everyday lifestyle. Amongst those that we received, we really liked Swarovski for their embedded gem design, as well as Design Orchard for their matte pink packets showcasing four gorgeous floral illustrations.
