Louis Vuitton’s Rain Boots Make Getting Caught In The Rain Fun Again

Just got caught in the rain? Bummer. For many of us, rainy season isn’t great. Your clothes, bag, and shoes get drenched, you’ll have to carry around an umbrella all the time, minor inconveniences and all that. And what do you know, showers are expected this January as well.

For the fashion set though, or those who see clothes as an extension of their personality, rain presents… possibilities! Sweater weather inspires homebodies to whip out their most comfy knits, while the stylish ones are gleefully donning trench coats that previously only had use overseas. We’ll give you one more reason to rejoice then — Louis Vuitton is launching a “Rain” capsule collection of rubber shoes, perfect for gallivanting about in the rain.

Rain or shine, we can imagine these looking particularly chic on your feet. The collection takes on iconic styles by Nicolas Ghesquière, so don’t think of them like ordinary wellingtons — yes they’re still 100% waterproof and 100% rubber, but now in recognisable silhouettes that look like they’re dipped in paint, with a matte or varnished finish. We’d even go on to say that there’s something feminine and futuristic about this series. Imagine a sci-fi anime protagonist having this as part of her everyday uniform as she roams about in a Hong Kong-Tokyo hybrid city. Too specific, or nah?

As for the three styles, there’s the Silhouette ankle boot, a sleek style with that signature flower heel; the Rhapsody ankle boot, inspired by bikers, hence its harness and horseshoe buckle at the ankle; and the unmistakable LV Archlight, now a fully-waterproof hybrid version of the oversized sneaker that came before it. So you see, rain ain’t that bad, not when you can look this good caught in it.
