Women’s issues as of late, have been some of the most shocking headline news — from revelations of sexual misconduct or worse, the gender wage gap, and the prevailing sentiment of #MeToo in the biggest pop culture award shows. Which is why there’s plenty to celebrate this turning of tides on toxic masculinity and the glimpses of justice in the months that follow (most recently, with Harvey Weinstein’s sentencing). For those unaware, arguably the perfect time to start these celebrations is 8th March, also known globally as International Women’s Day. For the 20th Anniversary of NET-A-PORTER, 20 world-renowned designers and labels have been exclusively invited to design t-shirts inspired by their individual personal interpretations of women’s strength and empowerment. All profits made from the sale of these t-shirts will go towards the charitable organisation Women for Women International’s meaningful work in aiding women survivors of war rebuild their lives, providing for their families, and create lasting change in their communities. The organisation does this by enrolling women living in the world’s most dangerous places on year-long training programmes focusing on education of their rights, health, and vocational skills. Following this, the initiative will subsequently form support networks of women with similar experiences to cultivate and reinforce the efforts made in the programme and inspire others the world over.
