Back in 2017, we were cringing at the thought of 12-year-olds lip-syncing to their phones when apps like Musically were all the rage. Yet, in 2020, there is no doubt that we find most of us, spending time watching videos on TikTok on our devices. Heck, some would even go out of our way of learning a dance that you’d probably see yourself dissing in the past. Guilty? Don’t worry, we’re not judging.
You see, it’s hard to admit, but there’s just something about TikTok that we can’t seem to shake (well, not literally) — instead, we drive ourselves crazy over new challenges to master, or even new skills to hone with popular trends that have been taking over the Internet.
So if you’re just a passing stranger who’s bored from squandering around, doing nothing at home during this stay home period, or even a fully-obsessed TikTok fanatic, then you’ve come to the right place. Ahead, we’ve listed out some of the top 10 TikTok trends that are all the rage.
1. SAVAGE CHALLENGE
“Oh I messed up”
The viral dance made popular by TikTok? Enter Megan Thee Stallion’s hit, Savage. Celebrities like power couple, Hailey and Justin Bieber, as well as other celebrities like Courteney Cox have also joined the bandwagon with this dance that’s been a hot hit in the past few weeks.
2. DON’T START NOW CHALLENGE
pls do my dance🥺
TikTok gave Dua Lipa another viral moment with this dance challenge. Probably one of the easiest dances to learn, jam out and swing your hips to Dua’s “Don’t Start Now” with this easy-to-follow choreo.
3. DALGONA COFEE
You probably don’t need any introduction but for the unacquainted, here’s something you might want to try at home. All you need is milk, and an equal ration of coffee, sugar and water. Though you can whip this up with a whisk — which is probably going to drain you out at your first cup — we’d best recommend you to use an electric mixer.
Also, if you feel like trying something new, you can also switch your coffee powder for a milo mix or even with matcha!
4. FLIP THE SWITCH
Grab a partner and hit the switch! Otherwise known as one of the lastest viral challenges to hit the app, the latest challenge involves two people switching outfits while jamming out to Drake’s song “Nonstop”.
5. PUSHUP CHALLENGE
How about something a little fun to bump up your workout routine? Why not try out this Pushup Challenge with your workout buddy instead? The best part about this, you would have probably done a full workout by the time you’ve managed to ace filming this video. W.O.D (Workout Of the Day), sorted.
6. OH NA NA DANCE CHALLENGE
Have some time to spare? Of course, you do. While you’re winding down this Sunday, you might want to try this challenge out with your family while you’re at home. Grab a partner and see if you can both sync up with the music! Though it may seem tricky at first, being able to master this challenge sure does feel satisfying.
Just try not to trip.
7. MAKEUP HACK
Rumour has it that applying these steps in order will give you a flawless base for the whole day entire day (and we can vouch for that). First, moisturise. Then, take your favourite setting spray and follow through with a primer before you start on your foundation. We were quite apprehensive when we tried this out but it definitely kept our face on without it melting off midday no matter how hot it was. The only setback, it may be a little cakey for some so this might not be the best option if you’re looking for a simple daily routine.
8. ANY SONG DANCE
When Zico dropped this banger, fans went wild, and not just because of his track, but also the dance that came along with it. Film it on your own or, level it up by doing a collab with your friend!
9. TOOSIE SLIDE
Drake recently just released his latest track and this bop definitely hit it out of the park! Plus, this challenge is pretty simple. All you need to do is to make sure you’re able to coordinate yourself well and dance to the beat of the song. With a little bit of practice, you’d be a TikTok star in no time.
10. BORED IN THE HOUSE
#boredinthehouse @curtisroach 😷
Here’s an idea: instead of complaining and whining to everyone about how bored you are at home, why not channel that energy and take a TikTok of what you’re doing at home?
