Sony Launches New Extra Bass™ Wireless Speakers with Side-Firing Subwoofers

If you’re looking to add a new wireless speaker to your home set-up, Sony’s new line-up of wireless speakers might be just what you need. The speakers feature a newly developed X-Balanced Speaker Unit which promises a refresh in design and enhanced sound quality alongside its signature EXTRA BASS™ Sound that delivers deep, punchy bass.

Here’s a closer look at the features of the three new additions — SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33 and SRS-XB23.

BUILT WITH THE X-BALANCED SPEAKER UNIT

Built with the all-new X-Balanced Speaker Unit, the speakers are able to give you higher sound quality and powerful sound pressure for a richer, deeper and more rewarding listening experience. The unit’s non-circular shape maximises the area of the speaker diaphragm which increases the sound pressure for a more punchy bass. It also reduces driver excursion while maintaining the same sound pressure for less distortion in your audio.

All three speaker models are also built with side passive radiators for clear bass sound reproduction and LIVE SOUND mode which is able to create a three-dimensional sound experience to replicate the experience at a live venue. Although the in-built system follows the same blueprints, each speaker differs in the final build.

SRS-XB43 features an almost rectangular diaphragm and is a two-way speaker system that combines a woofer for low to mid frequencies with a dedicated tweeter for higher range frequencies. What you’ll get is a powerful sound with deep punchy bass and exceptional vocal clarity.

SRS-XB33 and SRS-XB23 features the new non-circular diaphragm and an off-centre design that maximises the speaker diaphragm to create more sound pressure while keeping the speakers compact in size. SRS-XB23 is built slightly smaller than the other two models to make it compact and lightweight. It even comes with a convenient strap for you to hang around the house.

Technical specs aside, the SRS-XB43 is the most robust of all three and it makes for the ideal choice when you prefer a more immersive audio experience at home. However, if you’re looking at a speaker that provides great portability, the SRS-XB23 would be your best choice as it is the most lightweight of the three — a speaker we can see accompanying you on your trip to the beach.

DURABILITY

The new models have an IP67 rating which certifies that the speakers are water-resistant, dust-resistant and rust-resistant. They have also undergone extensive shock testing with their latest shock-proof durable design which can withstand inevitable knocks, bumps and scrapes that would come with everyday use.

RECREATING A LIVE ATMOSPHERE

With the speakers’ new design, you will now be able to add a music festival atmosphere using its multi-colour line,  tweeter and speaker lighting. You can also recreate a lively club vibe with the Sony Fiestable companion app from your smartphone which syncs the speaker’s lights with the beat of the music — something that you might utilise when unwinding on a Friday night.

BATTERY LIFE

The new line-up of speakers has a battery life that can last up to 24 hours and uses a USB Type-C cable for charging. The speakers are also able to double-up as a charging port for your smartphone via a USB Type-A cable, which is handy when you need to have your phone around the speaker to maintain strong Bluetooth connectivity.
