Unboxing and Review of the Dyson V8 Slim™ Fluffy +

The V8 Slim Fluffy+ is the newest addition to Dyson’s line-up of cordless vacuums; and at $599, is also the most affordable. This set comes with the main cleaner head and five tools, and in a slimmer, lighter profile than previous Dyson models — which makes it perfect for daily use. And considering how we’re now staying home more than ever, tools that help us deep clean are more desirable than ever.

UNBOXING THE V8 SLIM FLUFFY+

Above: The V8 Slim Fluffy+ Box.

Above: Inside the box.

Above: the charging plug and cable, and an included wall mount that works as a docking station for the vacuum.

Above: All the attachments that come in the V8 Slim Fluffy+ Box.

Above: A good idea would be to label the attachments so you’ll never mix up the “clean” ones (eg. the mattress and furniture tools) with the ones used for dirtier business, like the floor.

USING THE V8 SLIM FLUFFY+

Above: The cleaning head is the all-purpose tool used for vacuuming the floor. it glides across hard and soft floor surfaces effortlessly, picking up dirt, dust, hair, and pretty much anything you can suck into the cleaner. There are two power modes that can be used up to 40 minutes on a full charge.

Above: The attachments can fit directly onto the main body as well, so you can switch to a handheld vacuum instantly.

Above: the crevice tool is my favourite of all the attachments; it gets to all the hard-to-reach areas and spot cleans effectively, especially on MAX mode. this new version also lights up, which is extremely useful when cleaning dark corners.

Above: i suggest keeping the mattress tool separate from the other attachments so it stays as clean as possible.

Above: the motorised tool above is engineered to provide increased power, and works well on carpets, furniture, upholstery, and tough surfaces.

Above: this combination tool can be used with or without the brush head. it is useful as a dusting tool on appliances and things.

CLEANING THE V8 SLIM FLUFFY+

Above: there’s a quick release tab (the red handle) that opens the base of the unit for all the dust and dirt to fall out. Just hold it over a dustbin; there’s no need to get hands dirty at all.

Above: Dyson claims that the advanced filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The filter itself is easily removed by just twisting it off.

Above: there’s also a filter at the top of the machine that is also easily removed by twisting and lifting it up. These HEPA filters can be cleaned by running them under cold water and then letting them air dry completely before placing them back in. you can also buy replacement parts directly from dyson.

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you’ve always wanted a Dyson vacuum but found them too pricey, this model is definitely something to consider. In comparison, the V11 Absolute that launched last year is priced at $999. The difference with that premium model and the new V8 Slim Fluffy+ is that the V11 Absolute has a fancy LCD screen that reports the mode, battery power and amount of time left in that mode; there are seven attachments instead of V8’s six; and it has a run time of up to 60 minutes, while the V8 is up to 40 minutes. Also consider that the V8 Slim Fluffy+ has a slimmer silhouette and is lighter, which would be appreciated by anyone doing the housework.
