Dior’s Limited-Edition Air Dior Capsule Collection Is Now Available In Singapore

The hotly anticipated Air Dior capsule collection — created in collaboration between Dior and Nike’s Jordan Brand, has launched. This collection recalls Dior’s increasingly sporty aesthetic under Kim Jones’ creative direction, that has since proved stunningly successful in appealing to younger customers, and expanding the audience for the luxury label.

Travis Scott features in the Air Dior advertising campaign.

For reference, the Dior x Air Jordan 1 OG sneakers, released slightly earlier and inspired by basketball legend Michael Jordan’s signature sneakers, had 5 million interested buyers clamouring to purchase 1 out of only 8,000 pairs produced globally via a now-closed online raffle.

As for the ready-to-wear offerings from the capsule collection, they feature the use of gentle, elegant shades of blue and grey, emphasising the signature colours beloved by Dior’s eponymous designer. As seen on the casual structured jackets tailored to reflect Dior’s savoir-faire, and graphic sweatshirts emblazoned with the exclusive “AIR DIOR” icon modified from the Wings insignia by Nike.

A selection of 80s-inspired tracksuit separates, hoodies, and accessories that pay homage to Michael Jordan’s legendary style on-and-off the court are also available in this line-up.

The pièce de résistance of the collection — the Dior x Air Jordan 1 OG Sneakers, are made in exquisite calf leather and finished with hand-painted edges. The footwear’s most defining details lie in the Nike swoosh logo, that’s reimagined to be slightly larger to showcase the Dior Oblique monogram, as well as the modified Wings logo stamped on the sneakers’ ankles.

As aforementioned, these sneakers are highly-limited and are completely sold-out before they even hit the store shelves. Though if you’re especially keen on getting them, you might be glad to know that there are resellers on StockX selling them for USD 1 million.

Addressing this capsule collection, Kim Jones, artistic director of Dior Menswear, says, “I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas – Jordan Brand and Dior are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new.”
