SocietyA Brings In Independent Beauty Brands From All Over Asia

We love trying out Asian beauty brands, and we recently discovered SocietyA’s curation of new independent beauty brands from all over Asia. While originally focused on spotlighting Asian fashion designers, the website has since expanded to include skincare and makeup, with a selection of local labels like Sigi Skin and The Gentle Label, to exclusive international favourites like Beigic and Mellow Naturals. Whether you’ve been dying to restock that one product you got on your last holiday, or are on the search for new brands to add to your collection, SocietyA has something for you.

1. BEIGIC

Brand new and exclusive to SocietyA, K-Beauty brand BEIGIC is finally available on our shores. Founded by Kate Namgung in 2018, the clean and vegan beauty brand specialises in products formulated with green coffee bean extract. After years of working in the beauty industry, Kate discovered the benefits of green coffee beans, which not only boost the energy and the mind with natural caffeine, but is also rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids and vitamin E.

One of the star products in the collection is the Regenerating Oil ($89), a super lightweight formula that leaves the skin hydrated and nourished upon application. Unlike most oil formulas, this award-winning skincare essential is suitable for all skin types, even for those with oily skin. Boosting the skins natural collagen production, it also helps to tighten and brighten the complexion, improving skin vitality and encourages cell regeneration.

2. The Gentle Label

Founded in 2017 by Genevieve Tan, this homegrown label specialises in clean, non-toxic everyday essentials. After becoming a mother, she became more mindful over what goes into the products she puts on her and her own family’s skin, which resulted in developing a skincare line that only includes safe ingredients that are absolutely essential to the formula.

One product that stands out from the collection is the Face Wash ($32), which lathers into a gentle foam, and cleans the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Featuring natural ingredients like witch hazel, willow bark and elderflower, the formula helps to prevent blemishes and has anti-inflammatory properties, along with providing gentle exfoliation to shed dead skin cells and clear pores. Antioxidant-rich, it also features apple and green tea, and is suitable for all skin types. Each product in the collection is formulated and manufactured in the UK, using mainly organic, plant-based ingredients with no harmful additives.

3. Mellow Naturals

Also exclusive to SocietyA is Thai skincare brand, Mellow Naturals. Founder Pat Benjasiri was inspired by her mother’s homemade skincare recipes, and has combined these traditional remedies to develop a range of sustainable beauty products that are free from harmful additives, are suitable for all skin types and are pregnancy-safe.

1. Vitamin C Natural Glow Face Serum ($55)
2. Hydration Drops ($52)

A must-try is the Brightening & Hydrating Set ($99), which features the Vitamin C Natural Glow Face Serum and Hydration Drops. Rich in Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP), a more stable, non-irritating version of vitamin C, the serum boosts collagen production and prevents pigmentation, and is less acidic than most vitamin C formulas that contain harsher, exfoliating properties. Pair this with the Hydration Drops, a 100% natural face oil featuring antioxidant-rich argan, rosehip and strawberry seed oils. Combined with premium-grade, sugarcane-derived squalane, an oil that naturally develops in the skin, the formula strengthens skin barriers that may be weakened from harsh cleansers, and regulates sebum protection while balancing the skin’s hydration.

4. Solos Cosmetics

Another local brand to keep your eye on is Solos Cosmetics, which specialises in cruelty-free, travel-friendly beauty, suitable for every individual. Each product in their collection has been made with the goal of simplifying beauty, creating a range of beginner-friendly products that are great to use on-the-go.

1. Berry Bomb x Fiery Fuchsia Splitstix
2. Cocoa Chocolate x Racy Russet Splitstix
3. Mega Mahogany x Mellow Mauve Splitstix

We absolutely love their range of Splitstix ($19 each), highly pigmented bullet lipsticks that feature two shades in one. Combine both colours for an easy, gradient effect, or use your side of choice for a bold lip. With a weightless, powdery finish, expect a quick, smooth application. Perfect for those who love a low-maintenance routine, these multi-purpose lipsticks can also be used on your eyes and cheeks to add a pop of colour to any look — a quick dab and blend with your fingertips and you’re ready to go.

5. Sigi Skin

We’re no stranger to Sigi Skin, and if you aren’t familiar, this is another local brand that should definitely be on your radar. Packed with natural, superfood ingredients and developed with Korean technology, treat your skin to their range of minimalist but powerful products that will keep your complexion looking and feeling good.

Let the Dream Capsule Mask ($82) do its magic overnight with the help of bakuchiol, a plant-derived retinol alternative which hydrates, boosts collagen production and reduces fine lines — suitable for sensitive skin, this is a great starter product for those who are considering adding retinol to your skincare routine. Also containing purslane and squalane, the mask strengthens the skin cells while reducing inflammation, and enhances the moisture-retaining properties in the skin. This powerful formula is also made without any water, which means your skin is getting 100% of the benefits from each ingredient, without any dilution.

6. CELLOOM

SocietyA will be introducing more independent Asian beauty brands to its collection throughout the year, but one label to look out for is CELLOOM, a Korean skincare line that has been developed by a mother-daughter duo who are dedicated to helping individuals find the perfect skincare products to use at home.

With over 30 years of experience under her belt, Dr. Grace Cho developed CELLOOM with her daughter, Kim Da Ye, with the goal of simplifying the process of finding the right skincare to target each individual’s needs. With an easy, 4-step process, the brand helps its customers choose essential skincare products based on an at-home, self-diagnosis, to develop the best routine for their skin. The brand also encourages consumers to adjust their routines according to changes in their own environments and skin conditions, so their skincare always stays up-to-date for their changing needs.
