The 5 Muses of CHANEL SS20 Eyewear Reflect on Their Journeys in This Exclusive Interview

The relationship shared between a fashion designer and muse is as undefinable as it is varied. Though, if there’s one thing for certain, it’s that the muse reflects a rarefied sense of self, and an electric personality that serves as a catalyst for inspiration. What that is exactly is where it gets difficult to pinpoint, but perhaps that’s why we find the connection so mysterious and magnetic.

We have covered the CHANEL Spring/Summer 2020 Eyewear collection earlier this year, featuring five original shades inspired by a diverse cast of five muses — French silver screen siren Isabelle Adjani, It Girl Margaret Qualley, New Wave music composer Sébastien Tellier, rising pop icon Angèle, and award-winning musician Pharrell Williams.

While we’d love to spend the day decoding the Why, What, and Hows leading to the decision on choosing this stellar, gifted cast of five as muses for the collection, we think it’s best to have them speak for themselves in this exclusive interview for the SS20 Eyewear campaign, directed by Pedro Winter.

Addressing how his impression of fashion and CHANEL evolved from misconception to admiration, Pharrell Williams says, “Just like in art, there’s a real study and skill set that goes along with designing clothes. Everything, everyone here on this set is really the best of the best. I mean, CHANEL only works with the best.”

Similarly, Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood actress, Margaret Qualley chimes in on how music inspires her. On her relationship with CHANEL, she says, “I’ve always loved CHANEL. I think everyone knows that CHANEL is the best version of fashion. CHANEL is the chicest, coolest thing. So I don’t know why you guys are letting me wear these clothes but… Hi!”
