CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation — the most natural and weightless liquid foundation and it’s available in 25 shades

When it comes to liquid foundation, the choice of coverage and finish is a very personal preference, but everyone can agree on two things: it must look natural, and it must feel good. And this rings even more true in a climate where we stay home more, and mask half our faces when we do go out. As a full face base makeup, liquid foundation also has the unique opportunity to include skincare benefits — to protect skin against environmental aggressors and to improve its health and quality over time. So when you get your base makeup right, your skin looks good and you feel good too.

One foundation I’m constantly turning to is CHANEL’s cult best-seller, the Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation (a unique type of cushion foundation that has a gel-like texture as opposed to the usual creams of other cushions). This has been a must-have in my makeup box since it launched in 2017, and it’s part of the CHANEL Les Beiges makeup line — a beautiful collection of products that can successfully achieve the desirable natural makeup look with items that include sheer powders and moisturising tints.

The newest product under the Les Beiges range is the highly-anticipated liquid foundation; this is a smooth, sheer, yet velvety cream that glides on like silk over skin, and disappears into a healthy-looking “second-skin”-like finish. It’s undetectable on the skin, but still manages to conceal imperfections and even out the complexion. The formula is made up of 40% water, a selection of plant-based oils, blurring pigments and a fine silica powder, so when it touches the face, the skin feels instantly soft and hydrated; and best of all, you don’t feel “product” on the face.

In Singapore, CHANEL has released this in 25 shades (scroll to the bottom of this article to see the full range). If you have used CHANEL foundations before and know your shade, you can choose that number (for example, I always use a B20 for CHANEL base makeup, and the B20 in this liquid foundation matches my skin tone perfectly). But because there’s a wide range of shades in this new product, you can get an even closer match by considering the rosy hues (BR) and golden hues (BD).

To find your perfect shade, Professional Makeup Artist, Clarence Lee recommends selecting three colours that are close to your skin tone, and swatching them down the side of the face. Blend each one into the skin and choose the one that disappears completely.

I invited three friends over to our set-up at Cavenagh House to try the new Healthy Glow Foundation and to get their perfect shade match.
