Having teamed up with brand ambassador Jaden Smith to release two new footwear earlier this year, sneaker brand New Balance has once again collaborated with the iconic change-maker alongside Foot Locker’s in-house creative incubator, Greenhouse, to launch the NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer “Surplus”.
Set to launch globally on 23 October 2020, the NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer ($209) combines the classic New Balance design with Jaden’s unique aesthetic for a silhouette that not only pushes the boundaries of fashion but also the concept of sustainable footwear at New Balance.
While the first pair in the series tapped on the idea of using recycled content in its make, this third release of the series offers the familiar bespoke silhouette crafted using surplus textiles and synthetic leathers to provide a unique element to the design so that no two shoes or pairs are entirely the same.
Here’s a look at what the NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer “Surplus” is made of.
👟 The midsole includes 5% EVA Regrind from recycled plastic.
👟 The insole is partially recycled using recycled foam and rubber.
👟 The heel carrier is made from 98% post-production leftover foam and rubber.
👟 The upper part of the sneaker is made using surplus materials which consist of mesh, synthetic, and TPU pieces.
👟 The webbings and tongue of the shoes are made from recycled polyester and reflective yarns.
The NB for Jaden Smith Vision Racer “Surplus” retails at $209 and will be available exclusively from 23 October 2020 at Foot Locker Orchard, and online at footlocker.sg.
