The Best Liquid Foundations That Just Launched, including CHANEL, Clé de Peau Beauté, NARS, Kanebo and Sisley

A good liquid foundation is buildable, evens out the complexion, and lasts the entire day without wearing off or changing colour. But remember — foundation is like skincare, and some work better for you than others. Decide on the coverage and finish you want, and then your budget. These are the ones that launched recently and are good.

CHANEL LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW FOUNDATION HYDRATION AND LONGWEAR

I recently did a shoot featuring this foundation, and got three friends to try it — and they all loved it. Their main takeaway from this product was that it felt light and it looked very natural. And that’s really everything the product name implies — a healthy glow. I personally really like the fresh feeling when I wear this, and it manages to even out my complexion really well, despite its sheer texture.

CLÉ DE PEAU BEAUTÉ TEINT FLUIDE ÉCLAT MAT
RADIANT FLUID FOUNDATION MATTE

Like all Clé de Peau Beauté makeup, this is a skincare hybrid, and it looks very classy. It feels soft and comfortable on the face, and sinks into skin upon contact. The texture is rather fluid and spreads easily, but it gives good coverage for a product that is so liquid. It lasted well throughout the day with a slight shine toward the evening.

Packaging: This is a gorgeous frosted glass bottle with a signature navy blue cap. The product dispenses smoothly through a hygienic pump without any mess.
Key ingredients: A “Light-Empowering Enhancer” and “Skin-Empowering Illuminator” that uses optical technology to produce a radiant glow under a matte finish. And Herbal hypericum extract, a soothing, skin conditioning ingredient that helps to regulate and moisturise the skin.
Finish: Medium coverage, matte with an UNDER-GLOW
Number of shades: 8
SPF? Yes. SPF 20 PA+++
Made in: Japan
Pricing and availability: $190 (35ml), available at clé de peau beauté boutiques and counters.

NARS SOFT MATTE COMPLETE FOUNDATION

NARS claims that this formula avoids any oxidation, and keeps the shade true and the same the entire day. This worked for me and my foundation appeared “fresh” from morning till night, with little sign of wearing off. I do like that it gives very good coverage and a little goes a long way; but blend it in quickly because it dries quite fast on the skin. The best value out of all the foundations featured here.

Packaging: A soft, matte plastic tube. The product is squeezed out through a nozzle at the base, which gives good control and is mess-free.
Key ingredients: An exclusive “Anti-oxidation” complex that keeps the shade staying true all day / micro-algae extract to control sebum / bio hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin / oil absorbing powders to keep skin matte.
Finish: High coverage, with a soft, matte finish
Number of shades: 25
SPF? None
Made in: USA
Pricing and availability: $62 (45ml), exclusive to sephora in-store and online at SEPHORA.SG.

KANEBO FUSIONFIT WEAR

Kanebo recently rebranded their skincare and makeup, and this foundation is part of the new collection. The foundation feels high quality and is soothing on the skin. I like that it gives just enough coverage to even out the complexion, but doesn’t look heavy like a “mask”. The formula says that it adheres closely to the skin and I suppose it does because there is no “rub off” onto my face mask when I use this.

Packaging: part of the new rebranded packaging for kanebo: Glass bottle with the cap flushed to one side. Dispenses with a pump.
Key ingredients: Hybrid pigments with amino acid derivatives that melt into skin, that brighten, hydrate and even out the complexion.
Finish: medium coverage, dewy
Number of shades: 8
SPF? YES. SPF27  PA++
Made in: JAPAN
Pricing and availability: $88 (30ml), available on kanebo’s flagship store on LAZADA.SG.

SISLEY PHYTO-TEINT ULTRA ÉCLAT

This liquid foundation from the French luxury beauty brand launched late last year, and just added three new shades to its line-up. The oil-free formula aims to give radiance to the skin, while hydrating and protecting it from pollutants in the environment. There’s a bit of a powdery scent to it, but it’s not bad.

Packaging: A small glass bottle with a patterned cap. dispenses with a pump.
Key ingredients: Mauve extracts (high in sugars) and gardenia flowers (high in Flavonoids) to hydrate skin / buckwheat seed extract — sisley’s star anti-pollution active ingredient.
Finish: Full coverage, Matte
Number of shades: 14
SPF? None
Made in: Italy
Pricing and availability: $115 (30ml), Available at Sisley beauty counters and online at METRO.COM.SG.
