Jil Sander And Uniqlo Are Back With A New Minimalist +J Collection

Movie revivals have not been as well embraced as expected — we’re looking at you, Disney live-action remakes — but there’s at least one comeback we can rejoice about. That is, UNIQLO’s epic return of a  new +J collection, over 10 years after the debut collaboration with celebrated fashion designer Jil Sander. The Fall/Winter 2020 +J collection  of minimalist wardrobe essentials will launch in stores and online, starting 20 November.

Of the collection, Sander says: “I set out to define the global modern uniform with this in mind: Clothes should be long-lasting and enduring. They should serve the wearer and give her or him the energy and self-assurance which is so much needed in our global reality.”

Inspired by “a sense of enlightened understatement”, the collection goes on to give us a series of sophisticated essentials that are in line with Jil Sander’s modern and minimalist aesthetic, though she still gives us many options to mix and match for just about forever. The versatile pieces feature fine tailoring and sculptural shapes, and both the clean lines and well-fitted volume we’ve come to expect of this well-loved designer collaboration.

With a total of 37 items for women, 25 items for men and 4 accessories, we’re getting knit dresses, skirts, pants, and oversized shirts in classic black or white, though the collection does lean towards cold-weather wear. Among these are sweaters knit from cashmere to extra fine merino wool and blends, hybrid down and military-style coats, or utility-inspired jackets.
