Louis Vuitton Keeps Things Fun And Quirky With The ‘Game On’ Collection

If life’s a game of cards, imagine how lucky a hand we drew in 2020. Right. To that, Louis Vuitton says this: game on. Out to challenge our expectations of high fashion, and perhaps this tumultuous year, the French house has decided to put forth an imaginative Cruise 2021 collection that revels in the symbolism of a deck of cards. The ‘Game On’ collection sees artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s take on the classic four suits of clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades — and it looks like he’s got a couple of aces up his sleeve.

The brand’s iconic monogram canvas, seen on house icons such as the Neverfull tote bag, crossbody Dauphine, and boxy Petite Malle, now see little hearts placed in between their quatrefoil flowers, in pops of bright blue and poppy red that stand out against either black or white canvas.

Then, there are the more graphic pieces which see those same playing card emblems blown up to oversized proportions, in slightly retro-esque prints that sit atop the Speedy Bandoulière, or the trendy Capucines and Twist bags, where the latter is made to look like you just pulled out an ace of hearts.

Ready-to-wear pieces include dresses, t-shirts, and bomber jackets, as well as an LV Archlight sneaker; there are luggage tags, pouches too. For the ultimate whimsical take though, we’re betting on the dice-shaped Square Bag, and the heart-shaped Coeur where LV lays on the monogram in this first-of-its-kind bag silhouette.

Here are some of our favourite pieces:
