ETUDE’s Latest Milky Collection Is Inspired By Everyone’s Favourite Banana Milk

Any trip to Seoul wouldn’t be right without a taste of that sweet, sweet Binggrae Banana Milk in its iconic squat bottle.  And so, to pay homage to that all-comforting feeling, k-beauty brand ETUDE gets it right with this — their latest Milky collection, inspired by flavoured banana, blueberry, and strawberry milks. The adorable limited edition series boasts dedicated eyeshadow palettes, blushes, and even skincare, complete with packaging that looks like milk cartons.

It’s not a coincidence that this is launched in the ‘Year of the Ox’ too, though it’s quite clear they’re doing a more unique twist on the standard red-and-gold. Instead, we’re getting the soft pastel shades in the form of three 9-colour eyeshadow palettes and matching blushers, in subtle hues that we’ve come to know k-beauty makeup for. Here’s a quick look at all the items in the collection:

ETUDE Milky Collection Banana Milk — Play Color Eyes Milky Palette, $36.90 ; Milky Cheeks Blusher, $14.90.

Here, the bright warm hues represent one of South Korea’s most popular food exports, Banana Milk. The eyeshadow palette features soft, muted apricot-peachy shades that’d flatter those with warm skin tones, in a variety of matte, glitter, and shimmer finishes that you’d find across all the three palettes. What’s unique here is an apricot-toned blush that you can pair with the  matching eye shades. Even worn its own, it gives a warm sun-kissed glow to your complexion.

ETUDE Milky Collection Blueberry Milk — Play Color Eyes Milky Palette, $36.90 ; Milky Cheeks Blusher, $14.90.

Those who prefer purple hues would want to reach for the Blueberry Milk limited edition items, which actually suit both cool and warm skin tones. The eyeshadow shades are chosen to enhance the eye contour area, and instead of looking too purple, include softer and more neutral tones that will look good against Asian skin. As for the blush, this is in a lilac shade that can be blended out on your cheeks for a tone-on-tone look.

ETUDE Milky Collection Strawberry Milk — Play Color Eyes Milky Palette, $36.90 ; Milky Cheeks Blusher, $14.90.

The most girly of the bunch, ETUDE’s Strawberry Milk-inspired palette sees a variety of pinks with a milky-white undertone, and in all the finishes you’ll need, most suitable for those with cool skin tones.  The matching blush is in a light pink with a cool undertone, perfectly complementing the shades on the generous eye palette.

ETUDE Milky Tone Up Base, $22.90 ; Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream XL, $39.90 (1000ml).

ETUDE’s Milky Tone Up Base recognises our new mask-wearing habits, with a skincare-infused makeup base product that brightens and hydrates the skin, while protecting it against harmful UV rays with SPF 30 PA+++. Its natural colour helps to correct dull, yellow, or uneven skin tones as well, and can be worn on its own if you’re going without foundation, or layered under your makeup.

Finally, the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream is an appropriate product to include in this Milky Collection as well, since this bestselling gel moisturiser has a texture akin to milk pudding. The soothing hypo-allergenic formula keeps skin irritation and dryness at bay while strengthening our skin’s protective barrier, even for those with sensitive skin. What’s new here is that it’s available in an XL-sized 1000ml jar, and in that limited edition milk carton-inspired packaging.
