Levi’s® Red Chinese New Year takes inspiration from the 2003 Workwear collection with roomier fits

A new Levi’s® RED collection launches just in time for Chinese New Year, and draws inspiration from the 2003 Workwear collection. It employs environmentally-friendly fabrics, exaggerated workwear details drawn from the brand’s roots, and modern silhouettes to reflect the brand’s “Stay Loose” campaign of roomier fits.

Levi’s® RED was first launched in 1999 with the aim of reinventing the iconic five-pocket jean design. The result was half-experiment, half-art, with many pieces becoming popular collector’s items today. The extremely complex production process also contributes to a very small output, so each collection is limited and available in selected Levi’s stores around the world. The RED collection further inspired the Levi’s® Type 1 jeans and Levi’s® Engineered jeans.

In this year’s CNY collection, the bottoms retain the structure of the five-pocket jeans, but are updated with irregular stitching. The loose silhouettes for both men and women’s jeans are also driven by 90’s retro classics, but still contemporary. For tops and outerwear, there’s also a distinct stitching design and an integrated multi-pocket that is both stylish and functional. The entire collection is crafted with fully sustainable fabrics in line with the brand’s responsible business practices.
