This New L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Serum Gave Me Radiant and Youthful Skin in 7 Days

With the year-end festivities done and dusted, I was looking forward to start on a skincare regimen that took care of my skin, which honestly wasn’t at its best condition. Was it those late nights thanks to the multiple long weekends we had? Or the feasting, wine, and champagne? Maybe the sudden influx of heavier-than-usual makeup too. Whatever it was, my skin was visibly tired out, more dull than ever, and a little dehydrated too. Well, that was before I tried L’Oreal Paris‘ Revitalift 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which put all my skincare woes behind me.

I got my hands on the serum just in time really, and it proved to be the quick fix my skin needed for it to gain back much of its former glow. L’Oreal Paris’ latest serum comes highly lauded — it is the #1 serum in the United States, and promises plump, radiant, and youthful skin in just 7 days. Most people might be skeptical of that claim, and I was too, until I tried it for myself.

ON THE NEW L’OREAL PARIS REVITALIFT 1.5% HYALURONIC ACID SERUM

Before going into the review though, here are some other things you need to know about the product, the first being its key ingredient, hyaluronic acid, or what skincare experts and beauty junkies casually refer to as ‘HA’. The key function of HA is that it hydrates the skin, replenishing skin’s moisture. It might sound simple, but hydrated skin is healthy skin, with a whole host of great benefits you can see — your skin is smoother with fewer fine lines, more plump, and more radiant.

THE DIFFERENCE

As for why L’Oreal Paris’ Revitalift 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid Serum stands out among the other options in the market, a lot of is has to do with how it contains 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid, a concentration that’s equivalent to those found in leading high-end skincare brands.

Then, there are also two types of HA in the serum — Macro HA intensely hydrates and smoothens the skin surface; while Micro HA, 1/20 the size, is able to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, which re-plumps skin from within. Both these work together for instantly youthful skin, yes, but also more long-term effects that you can enjoy over time.

The serum is said to be non-comedogenic, and feels lightweight without clogging the pores. It’s also paraben-free, fragrance-free, and made without synthetic dyes, making it suitable for most skin types without triggering sensitivity.

WHO IS IT FOR

I honestly think everyone can benefit from a serum with hyaluronic acid; it’s one of the most common skincare ingredients that can be found across many, many serums and moisturisers for a reason. That said, those with dry or dull skin would benefit the most from it. If you have particular skincare concerns, such as early signs of ageing, facial lines included, and are worried about enlarged pores, this one’s for you too.

And lastly, if you still do not have a serum in your skincare routine, this one’s a safe and inexpensive one to start on. It might feel like a hassle to include an additional step before your moisturiser, but the reason why serums work so well is that they usually contain a high concentration of actives, the ingredients that take care of your skin — for L’Oreal Paris, we’re talking about hyaluronic acid, of course. Think of it as a boost to your current skincare regime.

REVIEW

first impressions

I couldn’t have gotten the serum at a better time really, as my skin was looking dull and dehydrated after Christmas. The first thing I noticed was that the serum was clear, and housed in a glass bottle with a tightly-capped applicator that made the whole experience of putting on the serum more luxurious than expected.

I was then impressed by the texture of the serum — it was truly lightweight and easily absorbed into my skin without leaving behind an uncomfortable, sticky residue. There was an immediate plumping effect on first use, and you could see that my complexion looked more glowy as well. It was a lot easier to apply my moisturiser after, thanks to that skin-smoothening effect. The eventual texture wasn’t too slick either, so my base makeup went on well without piling.

Left: before / Right: after.

No edits here, by the way. The difference is obviously more pronounced in real life, but I was pleased that it could be captured by the camera as well! The first thing I noticed was that my skin was a lot calmer and more balanced — as I started to use the serum daily, both day and night, the slightly reddish irritation on the surface of my skin and some pre-blemishes started to disappear as well. Across the t-zone, my skin got more balanced as it wasn’t craving for nourishment and over-producing oil; L’Oreal Paris’ serum managed to supply it with enough rich hydration.

After 7 days, I also found my skin to be smoother, more plump, and definitely kept hydrated for a longer time. In between. I even tried one day where I went with just the moisturiser, minus the serum — there was an immediate difference as my skin started to feel parched in a shorter amount of time. In fact, while using the serum regularly, my skin never felt parched or uncomfortable, and yet it was so lightweight I couldn’t feel any heaviness on my skin.

The final thing that convinced me of its efficacy was that my complexion got brighter and more even-toned too. Some of the dull spots on the side of my face started to fade, while that hydration boost meant my complexion was dewy and bright. I did not expect such obvious results when I first started, but am looking forward to using the product even more now. If you are already using an existing serum, I’d say, make this your next purchase.

Other than just the serum, there’s also a whole Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid range of skincare products to complement your regime. The Revitalift [HA] Eye Cream For Face is rare for a mass skincare brand, and is able to improve on fine lines and dark eye circles; the eye cream can achieve full face plumpness and smoothness, with proven results in 4 weeks. As for the Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Plumping Fresh Mix Mask, this one gives even more of an overnight boost of hydration for plump and smooth skin in 15 minutes.
