As we step into February, Apple is celebrating Black History Month with the launch of their exclusive Apple Watch Black Unity Collection which includes a limited edition Apple Watch Series 6, Black Unity Sport Band and Unity watch face, as well as an update to their apps and features to include a variety of new content that highlight and amplify Black creators.
Here’s a closer look at what you can expect to find from Apple this Black History Month.
APPLE WATCH
Designed to celebrate and acknowledge Black history and Black Culture, Apple has launched the all-new Black Unity Collection which features a limited edition Apple Watch Series 6, the Black Unity Sport Band and Unity watch face.
The Black Unity Collection pays homage to the rich tradition and craft of quilting in the Black community as well as celebrates the colours of the Pan-African flag — with red representing the blood that unites people of the African Diaspora, black for the people whose existence is affirmed by the flag, and green for the vibrant natural wealth of Africa.

Conceptualised with the help from members of the Black creative community and allies throughout Apple to honour the ongoing fight for racial justice, the Black Unity Sport Band is made from individual pieces of coloured fluoroelastomer and features the laser-engraved ‘Truth. Power. Solidarity.’ on the interior of the stainless steel fastening pin.

The Unity watch face will also be made available for Apple Watch users with an ever-changing pattern that dynamically shifts as you move your watch, creating a unique watch face for everyone.
The Apple Watch Series 6 Black Unity starts at $599 and the Black Unity Sport Band is priced at $69. Both will be available online here and in-store at the Apple Singapore outlets.
Do note that the limited-edition Apple Watch Series 6 will only be available for the month of February.
APPLE MUSIC
Enjoy a month-long experience across Apple Music, Apple Music Radio, and Apple Music TV with a wide selection of Black artists, moments and movements that have shaped global music and pop culture.
You can also find curated playlists, essays, original videos and more from Black influencers, musicians, authors and directors such as Naomi Campbell, John Legend, Jaden Smith and Ava DuVernay.
APPLE TV APP
Dive into the ‘Essential: Stories That Honor Black Families’ collection which offers up curated sets of films and TV shows that spotlights the multi-dimensionality of the Black family and its representation on-screen, including two special episodes of The Oprah Conversation where Oprah Winfrey discusses the idea that America is built on a caste system with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Isabel Wilkerson.
APPLE BOOKS
Find a new collection of books and audiobooks by Black authors across a variety of genres including literary fiction, history, memoirs, and books for young readers. Apple Books has also created special features which allow you to listen in on Black authors as they share their favourite narrating experiences and discuss their recent releases.
APP STORE
Starting today (until the end of February), the App Store will feature an App Store Black History Month Hub which spotlights Black-owned businesses, developers, entertainment and gaming apps, and social justice apps that you can download through the store.
The App Store will also be featuring stories with Black developers to discuss the importance of representation in apps and games.
APPLE PODCASTS
If you’re a podcast fan, Apple Podcasts has prepared an expansive set of shows from powerful Black voices which includes Michelle Obama and Phoebe Robinson for you to enjoy. The collection of shows offer thoughtful interpretations of Black Families as well as illustrate the stakes for the nation in the present-day pursuit for political and social justice.

Aside from giving you your daily news, this month, Apple News will feature a special Apple News+ Spotlight collection where you can find audio articles that celebrate the Black experience.
