If you’ve seen the YZY FOAM RUNNER before, you’ve probably laughed at it. It is after all, a pretty ugly shoe. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and there will be YEEZY fans and collectors who will queue for this rubber slip-on. Speaking of ugly footwear, it’s also now perceived as “cool” to wear Crocs; considering the original ugly rubber slide is currently having a moment with its bold collaborations with Balenciaga, Chinatown Market and more.
Back to Ye’s version, let’s not dismiss it just yet — it looks comfortable and probably is, if he’s making his daughter North West road test them. This new release will be available in adult sizes in two colours: MX Moon Gray and Sand, and will launch on 26 March 2021. Mark the date if you want a pair, because they will likely sell out; we found previous models of the shoe on Farfetch selling for over $2,000 (it’s like they’re trolling us), and what may appear to be knock-offs on Shopee for less than $30.
About the shoe: The YZY FOAM RUNNER features injected EVA foam that makes for a very light shoe, and this model is made using algae harvesting technology that helps to keep lakes clean. There’s also a soft top layer in the footbed that offers comfort in every step, and strategically-mapped vents to provide air flow and breathability. Finally, the box packaging is made using less material, which means less cardboard waste.
