Converse x Kim Jones Presents A Luxury-Streetwear Version Of The Chuck 70s

Designer Kim Jones, who helms Dior’s menswear collections, has teamed up with Converse for a very utilitarian pair of Chuck 70s. This one’s both a throwback to the late 90s, while incorporating informed choices inspired by UK streetwear, making this a limited-edition luxury-meets-streetwear drop you’ll want to snag once it lands in stores on 9 April.

For the design, those retro vibes come across thanks to a transparent TPU cage on the upper, or a total change-up of the rubber soles, now with curved edges for an elongated effect. The pair of KJ Chucks also features a varnished rubber overlay and speed-lace eyelets that nail that wet weather-appropriate function and style.

“The design approach for the shoe was very straight forward — taking a very classic shoe and then almost encasing it in something to protect it,” says Jones.⁣ Naturally, the kicks are also co-branded with Kim Jones’ name on the tongue and insoles.

To accompany the launch of the sneakers, Converse also introduces a line of Kim Jones-designed apparel that include parkas, t-shirts, and cargo pants that amp up the streetwear vibe.
