Dyson launches new air purifier fans that destroy dangerous indoor pollutants like formaldehyde

The iconic Dyson tower fan gets an important upgrade this year, with new sensing technology that destroys potentially dangerous indoor pollutants like formaldehyde. This colourless gas pollutant is released by furniture and wooden products like plywood, particleboard and fibreboard, as well as paint, wallpapers, varnishes and even household cleaning products. Formaldehyde is a well-known cancer-causing agent, and even in the short run, exposure can result in burning sensations in the eyes, nose, and throat, coughing, wheezing, nausea, and skin irritation.

The new Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde (the gold machine) has technology that can sense, capture and destroy this pollutant, and it uses a solid-state sensor, which means it doesn’t dry out overtime like other gel-based formaldehyde sensors. This also allows the sensor to last the lifetime of the machine.

In both machines above (the silver TP07 and gold TP09), there’s also HEPA filtration that meets the HEPA H13 standard, capturing the H1N1 virus and 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns (eg. allergens, bacteria, pollen and mould spores). All these particles are trapped and fully-sealed in the machine, so only clean, filtered air is blown out.

Other features include a fan that is now 20% quieter, a 2-year warranty on parts and labour, and all the luxurious touches that come with a Dyson Purifier Cool: a magnetised remote control that can be neatly stored on top of the machine; connection to the Dyson Link app that offers full control of the unit through the smartphone; voice control (with Google Home, Alexa and Siri); a night mode for quieter settings and a dimmed display; and the ability to program “sleep time”, which are pre-set intervals of usage.
