shu uemura’s New Pâtissier-Inspired Makeup Collaboration With Pastry Chef Sadaharu AOKI

If you still can’t get enough of Japanese makeup brand shu uemura‘s previous chocolate-inspired makeup, know that this upcoming one looks just as delectable. Feast on this: luscious shades of matcha green and azuki pink, all over a new delectable pâtissier-inspired collection, made in collaboration with renowned pastry chef Sadaharu AOKI.

Just in time for Spring, the shu uemura X Sadaharu AOKI Paris collection tempts us with modern colours and textures, on limited edition packaging of glossy matcha and azuki-inspired shades with artful glazes that look just like Sadaharu Aoki’s signature cake designs. The lipsticks and eyeshadow palettes in the collection are further infused with sweet aromas according to their design, while this is also the first time we’re seeing a shimmery crushed-stone texture for shu uemura’s highly-lauded, highly-pigmented eyeshadow shades.

Here’s a look at what you can expect when the limited edition collection hits stores on 22 April.

EYESHADOW PALETTES

There are two eyeshadow palettes here, each with 10 highly-pigmented, fresh-looking shades for Spring, which are hand-picked for seamless blending. A new crushed-stone texture of shimmery glitter pigments also finds its way on the two palettes. The cake-sized compact eye palettes are also made of padded nylon so they’re soft to the touch, almost like you could sink a fork in them.

The pink Azuki Feuillete Eyeshadow Palette is, of course, reminiscent of the sweet azuki, reimagined as shades of pink, coral, and browns on a neutral palette that’s just as romantic-looking. On the other hand, the matcha-inspired shades across the Matcha Genoise Eyeshadow Palette are more varied, with gold, warm-toned browns and rust, a crushed-stone green, as well as a vibrant mustard, for a series of versatile shades that take you from a neutral eye to more experimental styles.

LIPSTICKS

Two styles of shu uemura’s beloved lipsticks, in limited edition packaging, are presented here. Depending on which type of finish you’re going for, you may opt either for the classic Rouge Unlimited Matte or Rouge Unlimited Lacquer Shine, where one of the shades features a new glitter lacquer texture. Here are the shades available:

• • rouge unlimited matte — cherry cream (new) ; mikan ginger (new) ; M BG 954 ume mousse (star shade) ; M RD 163 framboise crush (star shade)
  • rouge unlimited lacquer shine — LS OR 590 azuki caramel (new texture) ; coral gelee (new)

OTHER ICONIC ITEMS

Just like every special collection the brand introduces, shu uemura has also included their other famous beauty icons within the collection. The Petal 55 brush, Hard Formula Eyebrow Pencil, and ultime8 Beauty Cleansing Oil are all dressed up to match the pink and green hues of the pâtissier-inspired collection too.
