7 Loungewear Collections We’d Gladly Wear Out Of The House Too

2020 was the year of loungewear, and it looks like 2021 might very well follow suit too — except, what we really need are PJs we wouldn’t mind heading out in. WFH is still a big reality for most of us, but how about those times when we’re not stuck at home? For those blissful moments of freedom, we’d recommend home wear that — surprise! — isn’t just for lounging at home, especially since these really maximise your wardrobe space.

Think: tonal knits and co-ords, breezy linen tops and shorts, as well as logomania-worthy hoodies and sweatpants in easy, loose silhouettes, which do just enough to elevate the look to something we want to be caught out in. Ahead, we’ve put together some of the best looks, sorted according to your budget, from affordable to, let’s say, aspirational.

1. Uniqlo x Mame Kurogouchi

If you’ve always enjoyed the AIRism and 3D Knit options from Uniqlo, this is the style update you won’t want to miss. The collaboration with fashion designer Maiko Kurogouchi sees effortlessly elegant loungewear and innerwear that accentuate feminine curves, whether it’s the clean cut of a bra camisole that graces the body just-so, or ribbed pants with a flattering flared fit. A mesh bra top is done simple but also sophisticated, so much so that it will look great worn on its own or peeking out from under a shirt. With an earthy colour palette of black, white, beige, and brown, you’re also free to mix these at-home pieces with clothes you’ll wear to dine out (soon!).

$9.90 – $79.90. Full collection available from 18 June 2021 at Orchard Central Flagship, ION Orchard and uniqlo.com.

2. OYSHO

The Spanish brand recently piqued our interest with some good-looking activewear options — seriously, check out those lightweight sports bras and leggings — though we found out that their new e-commerce site also sports a whole series of ultra-comfortable loungewear, the kind we’d be tempted to take an afternoon nap in. Some of the more trendy items include 100% linen tops and wide-leg trousers that look more like resort wear thanks to the breezy appeal of the natural fibre, while we also enjoy the loose fits of their cotton sweatshirts and the gingham look we shortlisted here, a long-sleeved style done with a mandarin collar. As for those linen shorts, we can think of many ways they’d be perfect for a stylish errand run.

Linen Shorts, $45.90. 100% Cotton Gingham Shirt, $59.90. available at oysho stores and OYSHO.COM.

3. MUJI ONE-ALL

MUJI is certainly reliable when it comes to nailing relaxed, minimalist fits, but have you heard of their ONE-ALL collection? Known as ‘One Mile’ wear, the pieces are meant to function as both home wear and clothes you’d wear to a home party, casual gathering, or perhaps for extra style points when out for errands, groceries, or a short trip to the library. The series features flexible drape designs with ample fabric and generous cuts that prioritise roominess, which work across different heights and body shapes while making you look constantly put-together.

Indian Cotton High Twist Blouse, $69. Mini French terry French sleeve dress, $69. Available at MUJI stores.

4. Inno by Innit

Can’t resist a good co-ord? Then get sorely tempted by the sleek pairings from Inno by Innit, from the same Bangkok-based brand that brought us those Insta-famous girly pleated tops. The options for their loungewear edit are a lot more streamlined though — a two-piece Jogger Knit Set features the cuffed ankle details of a more sporty number, though made with a cooling poly-blend knit fabric for ease of movement. Another co-ord sees a sleeveless tunic top and pants, which you can style loose or belt up for a breezy going-out ‘fit. Needless to say, you can always break the set up to match the individual items with your existing wardrobe, though we’d really hesitate on that since they look so good together.

Jogger Knit Set, $108.  Tea Time Knit Set, $108. Available online at innobyinnit.com.

5. Sleeper

Quite the sleeper hit in the fashion scene, luxury pajama brand Sleeper‘s best known for putting feathers on a classic pair of PJs, which immediately take the look to something you’d want to be photographed in at a lavish Gossip Girl-level sleepover. No doubt, this exclusive NET-A-PORTER is right on the mark as well, and pairs a violet linen mandarin-collar shirt with matching shorts, both trimmed with flouncy ruffles for some of those fancy vibes. The unique hue and subtle details make the top just as great-looking should you pair it with a pair of jeans or this-season flared pants, styled with a simple French tuck, of course.

Ruffled linen shirt and shorts set, $281. available at NET-A-PORTER.

6. Rails

Like we said, tie-dye is having a moment, and this loungewear set from LA brand Rails is certainly as laidback and effortlessly trendy as we’d imagine Californian dressing to be. Made from an ultra-soft cotton-blend jersey, the Reeves Jane lounge set is dip-dyed by hand so each garment has its own unique gradient, and includes a sweatshirt and a pair of elasticated shorts. A simple white palm tree is embroidered as a subtle logo on the sweatshirt. What made the look really work for us is that functional pocket on the back of the shorts — that and how lazy-but-amazing it looks paired with Birkenstocks and a cotton tote bag.

Reeves Jane ombré cotton-blend jersey sweatshirt and shorts set, $344. available at NET-A-PORTER.

7. Celine Homme

For the ultimate flex, Celine Homme’s athleisure wear ought to do it. That and the fact that we’ve seen BLACKPINK’s Lisa flaunting the pieces too. The hoodie is cut from mid-weight cotton-jersey, with the house’s 60s logo on the hood, elongated drawstrings with Celine-engraved anglets, and a front pouch pocket for your hands so you can nail that slouchy pose. As for the loose fit sweatpants, you can opt for either the obvious logo, or a discreet one near the left pocket.

Tapered Logo-Embroidered Cotton-Jersey Sweatpants, $954. available at mrporter.com.
