Review: L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] — A Multi-Purpose Eye Cream For Your Face

If you’re reading this article, then you’re probably curious about this — are eye creams absolutely necessary for your skincare regimen? Yes, and yes. While we do admit to sometimes skipping the step for a more minimalist approach, if you’re in your mid-20s and are looking to upgrade your skincare routine to one that’s more suitable to your lifestyle and evolving skin, an eye cream is easily that “extra step” that’ll make the most difference.

WHY EYE CREAMS ARE NECESSARY

You probably know this already, but the skin around our eye area is where we’ll typically spot first signs of ageing, since it’s thinner, more delicate, and subject to constant micro-movements when we talk, smile, frown, or move our face in any way possible. Those late nights and long hours in front of our work laptops also do no favours when it comes to tired, dehydrated skin, as well as dark eye circles.

Beyond our serums and moisturisers, a specially-designed eye cream is able to work on the specific concerns and specific skin conditions around our eyes, especially since regular moisturisers might contain actives that are too potent for the sensitive area. For those in their mid-20s concerned about early anti-ageing care, an eye cream is perfect to prevent crow’s feet and wrinkles, and treat some of the fine lines that may be starting to form.

AN EYE CREAM… FOR THE FACE?

Before we go into our review of L’Oreal Paris’ latest eye cream, here’s why the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler [HA] stood out to us. We can’t help but notice that it’s touted as an “eye cream for face”, meaning, a potent eye skincare product that’s safe for use on the other parts of the face. The main reason why this is useful is to prevent and treat fine lines beyond just the area — think, the laugh lines near the top of your mouth, or frown lines on your forehead, which might be areas of concern too.

L’Oreal’s [HA] Eye Cream For Face helps address these early signs of ageing, and is clinically proven to fade, fill, and plump all fine lines in 4 weeks. This efficacy is so sought after that it’s currently the #1 Eye Cream from L’Oreal Paris in China, while the product is also a first of its kind among mass skincare brands.

HOW IT WORKS

Inspired by HA procedures usually done at aesthetic clinics, L’Oreal Paris’ eye product works like a filler for your face, by plumping up the skin with a 5x concentration of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This active ingredient hydrates the skin and replenishes much-needed moisture, leading to healthy skin that’s smoother, more radiant, and with fewer lines. There are also two types of HA in the eye cream, similar to their popular HA Serum — Macro HA smoothens the skin surface, while Micro HA, 1/20 the size, penetrates into deep into the skin to re-plumps it from within.

Another important ingredient is Pro-Xylane, a L’Oreal-patented ingredient that boosts collagen production. This natural active is derived from xylose, a natural sugar sourced from beech trees, and is known to be one of the most advanced actives in wrinkle improvement. Developed over 20 years of research, it stimulates the production of collagen, which leads to lesser fine lines and improved skin elasticity. The eye cream also includes Syn-ake that relaxes wrinkles, and Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that prevents early signs of ageing.

OUR REVIEW

First off, I love the fact that you can use this beyond the eye area, and just anywhere I was worried about lines — for me, this included the sides of my eyes and undereye area, the area between my nose and mouth, and my neck. The L’Oreal Paris’ Revitalift Filler [HA] is in a tube, which feels more hygienic than continually dipping my finger into a jar. I was able to gauge how much product to use as well — I use a half-squeeze for each of my eye, and one for the other areas of concern.

As an eye cream, I really enjoyed the texture of the product. Unlike heavy or oily creams that might weigh down on the skin, this one feels fresh and non-greasy, and yet, still feels nourishing when I apply it onto my delicate skin. According to L’Oreal, it’s meant to have an auto-adjusting texture that “detects temperature and humidity” so it can adjust its texture accordingly. I’ve used this on no-makeup days when I’m at home, and it doesn’t feel cloying on the skin at all. Used on the other parts of my face, the texture is obviously a big plus point since it feels lightweight and comfortable.

Still, my preferred use would tend to be at night, when I have more time for a full skincare regime (though I should really consider day-time use as well). Of course, I encountered zero irritation along the way, so while the formula sounds potent and targeted, it manages to still be gentle enough for the more sensitive eye area.

After about 7 days, I’d say that the visible results are minimal — which is not entirely fair since I don’t have much visible lines to begin with. A major difference though would be the texture of my skin; I felt like the combination of Hyaluronic Acid and anti-ageing, collagen-boosting Pro-Xylane helped plump the skin around my eye area, so that it feels more firm and less dehydrated when I press my fingers on it. Same goes for the laugh lines I’m starting to notice!

For me, I’m looking at preventing fine lines and wrinkles more than anything, so the fact that this felt so comfortable, lightweight, and was wonderfully fuss-free to apply means that I’d gladly incorporate this into my daily routine.
