Beauty in The Pot Is Back With A Seasonal Rich Lobster Broth That Will Satisfy Seafood Lovers

Hotpot and this past week’s rainy weather go quite in hand, so here’s a hearty broth you don’t want to miss — Beauty in The Pot‘s new seasonal Rich Lobster Broth, which ought to be a hit, judging from the popularity of the previous seasonal flavour, the Hearty Shrimp Broth. They’re even calling this one an “upgraded” soup base, with even more umami flavour, since it’s been simmered with both fresh prawns and local-farmed lobsters for more than eight hours.

Available at all Beauty in The Pot outlets, now till 31 August, the Rich Lobster Broth ($38 for a single pot ; $20 for a twin pot) will appeal to seafood lovers who like that rich hit of seafood goodness whenever they slurp on lobster bisque or their favourite prawn noodles. Each Rich Lobster Broth is also accompanied with a bowl of poached rice that’s served at the start, with crispy grains that add texture to this mini starter dish.

We tried it at the spacious VivoCity outlet and are pleased to report that everything they told us about the “rich”, “umami” broth was totally true — you’ll get that on the first slurp, and every subsequent one as well, though the texture of the broth was more light than creamy. The lobster broth’s bright orange hue contrasted against BiTP’s iconic Beauty Collagen Broth when we ordered the duo soup base set. While both are quite rich in flavour, the seafood soup base offered a more savoury sensation compared to its creamier alternative.

Assorted Paste Platter ($26.80) ; Assorted Balls Platter ($13.80).
The Ebiko Prawn Paste, and a slice of beef dipped in a garlic-chilli sauce.

Of course, you then get to savour the broth with the selection of fresh and premium ingredients that the hotpot restaurant has on their menu — our go-to items include the Ebiko Prawn Paste ($18.90), which is served as a trio alongside the Pork Paste and a paste of the day ($26.80); an Assorted Balls Platter ($13.80) of their signature handmade balls including the Teochew-Style Fish Ball and Cheesy Chicken Ball; Fried Beancurd Skin ($5.40/half portion ; $10.80/full portion); and the range of beef cuts (from $10/half portion), from Sliced US Beef to US Wagyu Beef.

Also highly recommended: pairing the seafood and meat with their respective sauces, a soya sauce-based one for the former and a chilli-garlic blend that brings out the flavour of the meat. Since the sauce station is currently closed due to safe distancing measures, you may order them from your table.
