GENTLE MONSTER x AMBUSH Join Forces Again For Carabiner-Style Sunglasses

For the niche market of industrial-chic fashion that’s still appealing to the masses, no one quite gets it like Ambush. It’s no wonder then, that revered South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster is once again tapping on the Japanese jewellery label for a second collaboration, titled “CARABINER”, out in stores on 8 July.

Following their sold-out collaboration in 2019, the latest series is inspired by the world of rock climbing, and who knows, perhaps a little of the ingenuity of free solo climber Alex Honnold and his contemporaries too. It harmoniously fuses the two brand’s creative identities, resulting in limited edition frames that are undeniably chic, edgy, and minimalist.

As you can see, two designs are available, in either a square acetate frame or a softer cat-eye design with oval frames, with a distinct feature of D-shaped carabiners on both sides of the sunglasses — a style that no doubt, references Ambush’s and its creative director, Yoon Ahn’s unique point of view.

All are fitted with 100% UV protected lenses, and are available in three colours: black, blue, and with orange-tinted lenses. Even the packaging is embellished with a multi-cord detail and an oversized, heavy-duty silver carabiner.
