Remember the coveted Rouge Dior Satin Balm? In a silky universal hue called “000 Diornatural”, the sheer balm sold out in a couple of hours during its online launch, which pretty much confirmed its cult status. And now, much to our delight, Dior Beauty‘s about to unveil an expanded range of lip balms that builds on the original favourite. The new Rouge Dior Natural Balms are made of 95% natural-origin ingredients, and offer 12 natural tones meant to both enhance and care for your lips.
Compared to the original Satin Balm, this series sees a range of three finishes in total — a satin balm, that’s soft and radiant; a luxurious velvet; and a matte balm, which gives a blurry soft-focus effect. Of the matte and velvet textures, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, says that these come “with no satiny shimmer or shine”, and instead “leaves a velvety finish and a soft veil of colour on the lips”.
What’s good to know is that these are in the most beautiful natural shades as well, essentially, Phillips’ interpretation of nude tones, which range from beiges and milk tea hues to darker rosewoods and pinks. The universal “000 Diornatural” now comes in a velvet balm finish, while Dior’s iconic “999” is also available here, in a soft, sheer red. In total, we’ll be getting 12 everyday shades, all housed in jewel-like Rouge Dior midnight blue cases complete with the “CD” initials. Bonus: these are also refillable!
As for the ingredients that go into the lip product, these Rouge Dior lip balms will be the first time a formula is composed of 95% natural-origin ingredients, which draws from Dior’s floral science in order to dream up a floral bouquet that also soothes and smoothens the lips. You’ll be getting 24 hours of continuous hydration, and enjoy a weightless “bare-lip sensation” with an accompanying light wash of colour as well. Since these are lip balms, you’re also free to use them to prepare the lips before applying lipstick, though we can’t wait to wear them on their own too.
