Apple announces the iPhone 13 line-up, an all-new iPad mini and Apple Watch Series 7

Sep 14, 2021 — Here are all the Apple announcements this morning that include the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, a new iPad, an all-new iPad mini, and Apple Watch Series 7.

The flat-edged design from the iPhone 12 remains, and there are now new colours including a highly-anticipated pink. Both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are driven by an A15 Bionic chip; which Apple says is the faster CPU in any smartphone. There’s a brighter Super Retina XDR display with a durable Ceramic Shield front cover. Battery life has improved as well with the A15 Bionic that optimises the phone’s hardware and software use; the iPhone 13 will give you two-and-a-half more hours a day over the iPhone 12, and the iPhone 13 mini provides up to an hour-and-a-half more in a day than the iPhone 12 mini.

The camera system for both models includes a 12MP Wide camera that captures 47% more light, and with shorter capture times. This is complemented with a 12MP Ultra Wide lens with a new sensor that captures more detail in darker areas of photos and videos.

For video production, there’s a new Cinematic Mode that does video recording with remarkable depth. It holds focus on the subject even when moving, and you can tap to shift and lock focus on another subject. The focus point can also be changed in post edits.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB.
pre-orders for iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini begin at 8pm SGT on Friday, September 17, with availability beginning Friday, September 24.
Customers can get iPhone 13 for $55 a month for 24 months, or $1,299; and iPhone 13 mini for $48 a month for 24 months, or $1,149, from apple.com/sg/store, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max

The pro models get the same upgrades as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, but with surgical-grade stainless steel bands that are resistant to abrasion and corrosion. The A15 Bionic chip is matched with a 5 core GPU for 50% faster graphics than leading competitors. The screen is upgraded again with a Super Retina XDR display (in 6.1″ and 6.7″ sizes) that has a refresh rate of 120Hz — and it’s smart as well; the frame rate slows down to match the user’s speed to preserve battery life. Gamers and designers will benefit most from this as changes on the screen happen in real time, with no lag at all.

The camera system has been given an overhaul; there’s a new 77mm telephoto lens, an Ultra Wide lens with a wider f/1.8 aperture and new autofocus system, and an all-new Wide lens with a larger sensor with 1.9µm pixels, the largest ever on iPhone. Now there’s also the capability for macro photography, with the ability to magnify subjects that are just 2mm away. Night mode is also made available on all the lenses.

Customers can get iPhone 13 pro for $69 a month for 24 months, or $1,649; and iPhone 13 pro max for $75 a month for 24 months, or $1,799, from apple.com/sg/store, in the Apple Store app, and at Apple Store locations.

New iPad

There’s now a more powerful A13 Bionic chip in Apple’s most popular iPad. Everything is 20% faster than previous versions, and this makes everything more efficient and just better to use. The front camera is a 12MP Ultra Wide lens, and has the Center Stage feature that was previously only available on the iPad Pro. Center Stage automatically pans the camera to fit all the people detected into the frame, and it moves as you move, which is great for content creators and video chats. Storage has increased as well, and goes up to 256GB. The iPad will ship with iPadOS 15 and supports the first generation Apple Pencil.

The new iPad is available to order now on apple.com/sg, and will be in stores from Friday 24 September.
price starts at $499 for wi-fi models, and $699 for Wi-Fi + Cellular models. available in silver and space grey finishes.

It has an all-new enclosure with narrow corners, and an edge-to-edge 8.3″ liquid retina display, and comes in four colours —  space grey, pink, purple and starlight. It gets a lot speedier as well with Apple’s super fast A15 Bionic chip; compared to the previous generation iPad mini, the CPU is 40% faster, while graphics are 80% faster.
