As one of the world’s most popular k-pop stars and a long-time CHANEL ambassador, it’s no surprise that Jennie, of BLACKPINK fame, is now the new face of the CHANEL Coco Neige 2021/22 collection, consisting of winter sports pieces from the luxury brand. No doubt, she looks pretty savage too.
And while a teaser image of the fashion icon in a pink bra top and pants ensemble has been circulating since last week, we are now privy to the full suite of campaign images, brought to you by creative duo Inez & Vinoodh.
“I think Virginie Viard creates for many different women and has a different story to every collection that she makes,” says Jennie. The campaign is dynamic in bringing out the various facades of the CHANEL spirit — irreverence, nonchalance, freedom of movement and elegance — all done with agile grace. You can tell by how even the sports items themselves, even as they contain technical materials and functional cuts, are made to be fun and stylish, fitting for the house of CHANEL.
A long-line grey down jacket comes embellished with iconic double Cs, and a removable hood and parka for versatility — it’s also paired with hot pink cashmere separates, a bold colour that we also spot in other looks for the collection. There’s a ski suit in here, for obvious reasons, as well as cardigans and a vest of blooming camellias, a house symbol. It might not even be intentional, but the colours of pink and black, recalling Jennie’s k-pop group, are seen quite generously across the collection as well.
Of course, we can’t help but notice CHANEL’s accessories every time — and these are functional ones you’d want to wear high up on the slopes. A card holder and earphones case are slung across the body or worn like a necklace for hands-free function, just as the mini bags come with a ruched sling for you to wear on your arm.
The chanel Coco Neige 2021/22 collection will be available in boutiques from end October.
